My child's name is Kingston.
It was my first choice, and I was very lucky that my husband liked it!
I think it is the coolest sounding name out there. I just had to have it after hearing that Gwen Stefani named her child Kingston, I thought it was such an awesome and different, without sounding completely weird or made up, name.
Re: Let's play-What is your child's name, was it your first choice, and why did you pick it?
natalie. we just liked it.
we first came up with olivia but there will be a lot of olivias when dd gets to school age.
Oooh, I like that one, and you don't hear it often. Very pretty.
My DS's name is Liam.
We first thought about Eli & Elliot. DH wanted a "B" name because all of the men on his side have "B" names but Braxton, Braydon, & Brody weren't working for me :P So our compromise was Liam *Tyler*, Tyler is a family name too
That is really cute and I would have never thought of Liam as a nickname but that totally works!
DS's name is Brayden.
I always wanted my son to be Tyler but the name got out of control popular and we knew a few people who had kids named Tyler. I heard the name Brayden from an actress who named her kid that and I loved the name.
My husband just said that when we have our second we should wait to tell everyone the name and wait to name the baby until we see him or her. I don't know if I have the will power to not pick something specific. Good to see some people do!
DD is Abigail.
DH and I were between Abigail and Madison. When we said the 2 names with our last name, we liked the way Abigail sounded better. She turns 1 in a week!!
DD is Mia. My first choice (in the end) was Juliet/Juliette. I wanted to name her that SO badly, but then I started hearing people in public refer to their Julias/Juliets/etc/ as JuJu and I let DH's choice win over (although we kept it as a middle and would be happy to call her by her first and middle all the time). Actually, her name was Alexa Nicole before we found out that she was, in fact, a girl. Then we totally changed our minds LOL.
DS is Owen Parker. I wanted Connor (Connor Jay), DH wanted Parker, Owen was each of our 2nd choices.
We had tons of girl names picked out, but had a boy :-) That was nearly impossible because DH wanted a unique name, but I like classic names for boys. My favorite was always Jacob, but DH refused. After months of arguing over it, we narrowed it down to Jack, Tyler, and Austin. The morning I went into labor, we decided on Jack Tyler, but after he was born I switched the middle name to Thomas. It just sounded better at the time, DH couldn't exactly argue at that point.
It is funny because now DH is all about the classic names and is trying to convince me to name another boy Jacob. I can't get behind Jack and Jacob as brothers, the names are too close. I would consider Tyler as a name for a second boy, but now I don't care for Austin anymore.
Sabrina.
i always dreamed my daughter's name would be Isabella but then it became incredibly popular and i just couldn't do it no matter how beautiful a name it is. plus DH wasn't a big fan of it. we went round and round until the day we found it she was a girl and i said the name Sabrina. it stuck. and it's fitting, i think. (her middle name is after my grandmother and there was no discussion on it as, for me, she HAD to have her name)

Zachary.
We were team green and had a girl name we loved pretty early on, but didn't pick a boy name till pretty close to the end. I liked Zachary a lot but didn't necessarily LOVE it. However, now I love it - I'm sure because I love the little person attached to it.
I also like that it's a Greek name (I'm Greek) so my family can pronounce it.
Edward. It was our first choice.
DH is English/Scottish, so he wanted a non-biblical, traditionally English name that went well with our last name. I wanted a non-trendy name and suggested Edward because it was my grandfather's name.
Any other children we have will end up with English/Scottish names that aren't trendy. It will be a plus if we can name them after long-dead relatives.
Taryn.
We couldn't agree on anything. It was on the lower end of our list, but it was the only one we could agree on. I love it now. It definatly fits her.
DD's name is Hazel. It was our first and only choice. One of my favorite authors is John Irving, and when I read the book The Cider House Rules back in high school there was a character orphan named Hazel. I had such a vivid image of this little girl named Hazel. I never forgot that and when I got pregnant I suggested the name and DH loved it.
DD's middle name is Auverne (sounds like "Auburn" but with a V). I named her after this very sweet elderly lady that I "adopted" as my grandparent. It was such a unique and southern sounding name that I loved. Plus, I wanted to pass on a little bit of her feisty attitude to my daughter. I think I may have passed on too much sometimes
We were team green and had 2 names picked out for each. The minute we laid eyes on her we both said, "she's an Amelia" at the same time! I will remember that moment forever! She is an Amelia through and through :-)
Levi
We had a few names picked out for a boy and had made the mistake of telling people what they were. MIL started calling the baby by the name she liked, so I didn't really feel like naming him that. We never told anyone our favorite name and it was our first pick so when DS was born we decided on Levi.
Kylie i had this name picked out since high school and maybe even before. I cannot remember where I first heard it. DH really liked it too. We never even discussed another girl name.
DS's name is Ian Parker.
We didn't really have a first choice. We had no clue what we wanted to name him. We tossed around some boy names, but we really were not committed to anything. Then after the big u/s we went out to lunch and somehow just said "...how about Ian?" and it just felt right. We almost named him "Ian Alan" (Dh's middle name) but it reminded us too much of "Ethan Allen" lol. Parker was one of the names we had considered as a first name. We threw it in as a middle name. Our sons name was randomly tossed together 30 minutes after we found out he was a boy, while we were waiting for food at Bob Evans. =P
DS is Robert. It wasn't my first choice early on, but when my grandfather passed away while I was pregnant, I decided I wanted to name DS after him. Luckily, DH independently came up with the same idea.
Our entire naming conversation went like thiis:
DH: What do you think about naming the baby after Bob?
Me: I've been thinking about that and I really want to do it. I want to use Robbie as a nickname.
DH: Okay
Kallie - My first choice or her was actually Kylie, but the BF and I could not decide on a middle name to go with that. When we found a middle name we both agreed on, Rose, we just didn't like how Kylie sounded with it. Not that it sounds bad, it just didn't 'fit' to us. So, we went through similar names because we really liked Kylie, and wanted something similar that just rolled off the tongue better. He refused to use Kayleigh because he thought it was bad karma with the Caylee Anthony thing just starting up at the time, and Kallie sounded perfect to both of us. Then it was just agreeing on a spelling, and wa-la!
Damyn - This one was tough, we both liked a bunch of different boys names. For the longest time we wanted his name to be Devyn Jason. (DH's middle name is Jason.) I liked it, but then heard the name Damien brought up in conversation, and thought that I like the way that sounded, but not the 'ien' part, so, I said I liked Damon. We decided we liked the spelling with the 'y' better, and chose Anthony as the middle name because that is DH's daddy's middle name.
DD1 is Calista. Always loved the name. I think it's beautiful and unique.
DD2 is Soleil. Again another beautiful and unique name. Both were our first choices for each child. I was lucky in that DH let me pick out the names and liked them just as much as I did.
Our girls are Alexandra Rae, Taylor Grace and Dylan Marie.
DH loved Alexandra - Rae is after his Grandfather who had passed.
I had wanted Taylor since my college days. DH let me pick the mn too, I thought Grace sounded classic. I origionally wanted Taylor Ann - back in college, but MIL's mn is Ann, so I nixed that one!
I wanted Devin, DH thought that was too masculine. He suggested Dylan and I liked it too. With Alex & Taylor we did not want a feminine name for baby #3. We didn't decide on a mn until I was in the hospital for my induction. Marie is SIL's mn, so it fit.
Evan Michael was our boy name.
Sophia
It was our 1st choice, though we tried to pick another one because whe adopted a cat that was already named Sophie. We loved it so much we decided to go ahead and use it since the cat won't be alive too many more years.

My DD is Aubrey Elizabeth and my DS's are Matthew Lucas, Brady Benjamin and Cameron Jacob.
We chose Aubrey Elizabeth after my great grandmother and DH's great grandmother and knew that if there was one girl that would be her name.
We chose Brady years before I actually got pregnant for them and that was the only boy name we agreed on. In the end I had to pick my top 2 boy names (Cameron and Jacob) and DH got to pick from them and DH picked his top 2 (Matthew and Michael) and I got to pick from them.
We have a Natalie too! I was happy to see the first bumpie to respond had the same name for her DD
I liked Natalie for quite some time. My DD had other names like Eve, lol. I love Amelia and some of the other names I saw on this post.
Kingston is a rockin' name!!
DS is Nicholas James, which was out 1st choice. Ever since we seriously started dating 12 years ago, we knew we were going to name our son this name someday .
DD is Adrianna Anne. My 1st choice (for many years before I ever became pregnant) for a girl was Daniela, but my MIL hated the name Daniela and truly made our life hell about it and ruined the name for us, so we decided against it. My 2nd choice was Vanessa, but my DH didn't like it. His suggestions were Justine (barf), Jordanna (barf), and Michelle (out of date). Adrianna was the only name we could agree on. I like it, but it is very popular here and I would have preferred something a little less common.
This! My DD is Taylor. We changed her middle name once but Taylor was our 1st choice. Still, I love other names that were shot down by my mother/other family members so I really hope to keep the next name a secret. Or just have 3 choices and wait until he/she is born. I love that idea.
