First off, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the past 9 months! Everyone has been so wonderful, helpful, supportive, you name it, I got it here and really appreciate it. Special thanks to Mia for keeping everyone updated. Now for the birth story:
Induction was scheduled since I wasn't having any progress for Friday July 15 at midnight, but b/c of a fire that worked it's way up to the L&D floor, we were told not to come in and call back at 8am. After only 2 hours of sleep that night since we were at my parents and being super uncomfortable, we finally checked in at 9am. Doctor checked me and had progressed after weeks of apparently real contractions to 2.5cm dilated. I got to skip cyrotec and was hooked up to pitocin right at 11:30am. Finally started having regular contractions which still to me weren't painful at all and felt like BH.
At 4:00pm I was checked again and was only at 3cm. Dr then broke my water and the contrax started to get stronger and more painful. They still felt like really bad period cramps and BH but I decided to get the epi at 6pm b/c I was so tired and needed to rest. The whole time Layla was super active and never calmed down until I did. I was worried about the epi slowing me down farther, already it didn't look promising.
Dr checked me again at 8pm and I had gone surprisingly from 3cm-8cm in only a couple of hours. Checked again at 10pm and was now already at 10cm and Layla's head was starting to cone at +1 station. By 11:30pm, I was ready to push. After 1 hour of pushing and a couple of meltdowns b/c I felt like she was never going to come out and completely exhausted, she finally arrive July 16 at 12:58am. 8lbs 5oz, 21inches long and completely healthy and beautiful at 41 weeks.
We are finally home and I'm trying to recover from an episiotomy and a couple of 3rd degree tears. She really tore me up but so far so good. Feeding has been a huge challenge and I need to use a nipple shield to help with latching until my milk comes in. I couldn't have asked for a better labor and delivery induction experience. I didn't feel any pain through the whole process, recovery seems worse ha. Sorry so long here are some pictures for your enjoyment
