BM Question - 11 weeks old

My DS will be 11 weeks old on Monday, and he has had probably one blowout BM a day (sometimes every other day).  The past two days, he has been having 3-4 blowout BMs a day that are very running and a bright (almost neon) yellow.  He is breastfed.  Is this normal?  I just don't want to call the pediatrician for no reason.

  • As long as the poo is still runny, you're fine. BF babies can poo a lot, or not a lot, and it can be many colors of the rainbow. None of that indicates a problem.

  • agreed.  all normal.  bummer about the blowouts.  dd does the same thing at least once a day.  ugh.  oxyclean is my best friend anymore.

  • Maybe his diapers are too small? We had the same problem and moving up a size fixed it.
  • When Xander was still in newborns he was having blowouts, but was still under the "weight recomendations" for size 1 diapers, we moved him up to them anyway and havn't had the problem yet. I read online somewhere that that is really how you should base what size diaper they are in, if the are peeing one time and filling them they are too small, or if they are consistently 'pooping up the back or out the legs' they may be too small. I know they will come up higher in the back, but i'm not sure how it would change pooping out the legholes? I don't know If it is that consistent, I'd try the next size up a couple days and see if it helps? What do you have to lose, you'll use them eventually :)
