Babies on the Brain

If you've had a mole removed/biopsied

How much pain were you in a few hours afterward?  Go figure I'm not that concerned about the chance of cancer (I figure it's just a matter of time with my history of sun exposure and the fact that I have well over 100 moles), but I have a shoot this evening and I'm now thinking it was a bad idea to schedule both things the same day.  I wouldn't have but my client is moving in a few days so I couldn't push that back, and the biopsy was either this afternoon or over a week from now.

Is this going to be like surface pain that I can deal easily with, or am I going to be cursing life in general later on?

  • I had a pretty deep one removed that required stitches (while I was very pregnant too) and went back to work that day.

  • You'll feel a pinch when they numb it and maybe some pressure to a pinch when they remove it.  I had no pain afterward for the 4 moles I've had removed.  Though one was on the underside of my boob and I had to be careful about what bras I was wearing

  • It's been over 15 years since I had one removed, but I remember being in pain, but nothing that tylenol couldn't touch.

Ok, good deal.  He's already told me it will definitely require a stitch or two, so I was sitting here thinking, well crap the mole itself isn't that big, just what the eff is he planning on doing with this thing?  LOL

  • TMI alert.

I had one removed from the "hood" of my lady bits.  It hurt more when my underwear got caught then it did from being removed.  I am a wuss when it comes to pain. I never took anything for pain.

  • I've had 2 removed that required stitches, and the soreness was less than the soreness of flu shots

OWWW!  This one is on the top of my thigh (and there's another that I found on the back of my other thigh I'm going to see if he can take care of while I'm there today), and it's far enough down that I can wear shorts and not have them touch it.

  • I had one removed from my lower back  several years ago, actually it wasn't a mole but it was similar

As I recall it wasn't terribly painful.  It was mostly just surface pain, nothing that a little tylenol can't fix.

I've had 3 removed, one right above my knee, and two on my left deltoid.  The two on my arm didn't bother me one bit after, but the one on my knee did.  Only because I went back to work that day (I was working as a carpenter) and ended up popping the stitches.

Since these are on your thigh, I'd be careful about crouching and kneeling to get shots, but otherwise, you should be fine!  Yay for advil.

  • I've had two moles removed. The one on my hip didn't bother me one bit. The one on my chest didn't bother me the first time it was removed. However, it grew back. Even though it wasn't cancerous, they had to remove it again because when a mole grows back it comes in with weird edges and is harder to monitor for developing cancer. The second time I had it removed is when I had stitches. It really wasn't that bad - other than the scar it left.

  • I had one removed from the sole of my foot that required stitches.  It hurt like the dickens.  I would assume if it's somewhere else on the skin it would just be a surface pain.

This except I wasn't pregnant.  They had some trouble getting the area numb, but after that I had no pain.  Just a little tender.
