Sorry for the completely random, non baby-related post... but I'm watching Say Yes to the Dress (I've never seen this show before), and all of these women have a budge of $6000 - $7000 for their wedding dress?!?
I was a bridesmaid in a wedding where the bride spend $15K on her dress and alterations. They had it flown in from France. Our bridesmaid dresses and shoes were $435 (that we had to pay). I did not know that when I committed to the wedding. I think that was more than I spent on my own wedding dress.

My cousin had a 25k wedding dress... in the EIGHTIES!!
Mine was a Vera Wang I bought from someone else who changed her mind on the dress and couldn't return it since it had been altered (luckily almost exactly to fit me, so I barely had any alterations) and I think it was $600. Silk. Vera Wang. Gotta love it.
My brother was just in a wedding where the bride has a $15,000 dress. She got drunk and passed out on the floor in it. She also bawled in the bathroom for at least a half hour because the caterers accidentally cut the wedding cake before the she and the groom could. Seems a little high maintenance to me!
Benz - that's a really pretty dress! Congratulations!
I spent WAY too much money on our wedding (I don't even want to say). I wish we would have just gone to Vegas! Even though it was beautiful.. it was a PITA!

This is me too, my wedding was beautiful and all and worth every penny, but if I had it to do over again I would have done it for much much cheaper
I live in NYC and know Kleinfelds very well (where say Yes to the dress is filmed). I know many brides that spend about that much for a dress without blinking. My dad was very generous and gave me a large dress budget- but I just couldn't do it for one day in my life.
My step-mom was horrified that I bought a relatively inexpensive dress (I still think $1500 with alterations was ridiculous). My step mom was "so embarassed"- her words. She told everyone it was from Saks 5th Avenue even though it wasn't.
At my wedding, people complimented her on my dress and thought I spent a large sum on it. People just assumed it was very expensive- it proved my point. People have no idea if a dress is hand made or machine sewn. There are plenty of ways to make an inexpensive dress look rich without breaking the bank. Unless you're in fashion or are going to feel the material of the dress and lift the bottom to see the sewing in the hem, it's going to be hard to tell how expensive it is!
3 IUI's and 2 IVF's later- Brady arrived. Born at 36 weeks after PUPPS and pre-e/HELLP.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
mine was about $1200 and that was with alterations....then again I was 7 months pregnant on my wedding day, so my alterations were a little high
I was pregnant on my wedding day, too. I didn't know it yet, but I was bloated and the dress didn't fit right. When I came home from the honeymoon and took the pregnancy test, one of my first thoughts was, "oh, so that's why my dress didn't fit."
Anyway, my dress was around the same price as yours. Also, the dresses in that store on the show are anywhere between $1000 and $30,000. $6000 is actually pretty moderate, considering.
My dress was only $600 with alterations and all the accessories (veil, shoes, undergarments) and my entire wedding only cost around $3000 and it was spectacular. ?To this day, we get tons of compliments when people see the pictures.

Everyone wants to be Princess Di. I wonder if the Queen ever realized how much that wedding screwed up a whole generation of little girls.
I bought my dress last week. Original price $950 and I paid $75! I work there, so I get a 25% discount off the lowest marked price.
Here is my dress:

Thanks!
This part-time gig at the bridal shop just might pay off! I am so in love with that dress!

My whole wedding was only about $10,000. I reget spending even that much.
