D.C. Area Babies

if you have to be at work by 6 am or earlier...

tell me about your morning routine with baby.  Dad dropping off LO later in the morning doesn't count as we both have to be at work by 6 am.  Right now I feel like I'll have to get up at 4 am to get us both ready and out the door by 5.  Prior to baby I would get up at 5 and be out the door by 530 or so.  With having to fit childcare dropoff in there I have to give myself the 15 min to get there and then the 45 it will take for me to get to work.  Yes, I have to go north to go south.

Re: if you have to be at work by 6 am or earlier...

  • One day a week, DH and I need to be somewhere by 5:30am, which means leaving our house at 5am. DH and I wake up at 4:15am and get ready. We then wake the babies at 4:45am (they take a bottle at 5am everyday anyway), feed them a bottle, and then put them in the car and leave for the morning. We keep them in their PJs and MIL changes them into their regular clothes later in the morning. The key to all this is getting our stuff and the diaper bag prepared the night before so we can leave the house quickly in the AM.

  • I get up NLT 3:30, shower, get dressed.  DH rolls out of bed at 4 as I'm finishing up my hair and getting my lunch packed and things together to get DS up.  He changes him (changes diaper) and out the door we go.  The bottle is already warmed for daycare.  I just hand him off to my aunt, he has his bottle and goes back to bed from about 6-9am.  My commute is about 65 miles one way.  I work in DC, DH works down closer to where we live and my aunt is about half way from our house to my work so I do drop off and pick up.

  • I will never again complain about my morning schedule.   I'm amazed you guys are up that earlier for the day!
