I know it's still early but Pinterest has me sucked into the planning process. I kinda wanna do a Minnie Mouse theme for some unknown reason or maybe something with owls who knows yet. Have any of you started? Ideas, Themes?
I am really not thinking of doing a theme for DD's first birthday.
She is going to have 2 small parties, one day the day before, and one the day after so we can get together with each side of the family. We unfortunately have a wedding on her first birthday in the evening.
I feel somewhat bad, that the party isn't on her exact birthday, but I also feel like we will save the themes and big parties for when she can best participate and remember.

We're doing very hungry caterpillar.
I have two pink and white paper lanterns with Mickey and Minnie if you are interested, I could mail them to you. They are battery operated and work. Mil bought then for H but they don't really go with her room and I don't know when we might ever use them, so if you want them, let me know.
If I keep finding ridiculously cute shiit like this on Pinterest, its going to be Eric Carle.
In general, Pinterest makes me feel like my house is ugly, cluttered, and unorganized and that I am way behind in providing my kid with an appropriately cute room, playroom, and 1st birthday party.

I love Mickey and Minnie!! I think it would be an awesome theme and not too hard to do. Red and white polka dotted everything with a hint of black. Very cool. :-D

Goodness me. I feel like I should be planning L's first birthday every time I see one of the birthday party posts. Instead, I read them, take a swig of wine, and then calm myself by thinking that she's not going to be 1 for a long time yet. (hahaha! not true though - time has started to fly by since I've had a kid!)
I love Lulu's new picture! She looks so grown up!
I have a little over 100 days until Charlie is one, so I feel really behind! Maybe I'll just follow your lead and break out the wine! Haha

Wine makes all the world's problems disappear!
And thanks - I got a new camera and have been playing with it. I've gotten some pretty good shots.
And PPS - Have you noticed that if you sign into the bump through the main page, it has gone from "Your baby is x weeks old" to "x number of days until your child's 1st birthday." Kind of freaks me out.
Oooh, what kind of camera?
And yes!! That's how I figured it out. Crazy. 107 days left.
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
Canon Rebel T3. So far I love it. But I really am still learning how to use it!
Very cool! My brother lent me his Rebel xTi a few weeks ago and I'm still figuring it out. I have a bunch of neat tutorials and stuff pinned on my photography board - check them out! They're pretty darn helpful in getting off the auto setting. :-D

MANDS - Lulu is soooo cute in your siggy, I love her! ?
OSC - I feel exactly the same way about Pinterest, it almost makes me wish I had waited a little bit longer to have a baby so that I could have perfected my life. That would have been a realistic expectation, right? >.>
As for a first birthday party I just recently started scouring Pinterest. I'm thinking that we are going to do something low-key but very special none the less. I'm thinking maybe an under-the-sea jelly fish theme, or dinosaurs.
I know it is a pretty basic Dec baby theme but we are doing a Christmas type theme. My LO came home Christmas day and my family all calls her the Christmas Angel so for this year we embrace it.
I am in the process of hiring Mr & Mrs Claus for the other kid's enjoyment. Found a great Santa who does a whole little show and asks for little facts like favorite toy etc about all the little kids who attend before the party so he can talk to them about it to add to the authentic Santa feel.
My good friend has a side business doing custom baked goods and the favors will be Christmas ornament shaped and snowflake shaped sugar cookies decorated white and Gold with LO's f initial's in gold.
That is as far as I've gotten...but seeing as it's only July I guess that is far enough.

My sister threw me a Very Hungry Caterpillar baby shower. I have heard a couple people mention that theme. Maybe I will get around to posting a few pics later.

I have been trying to think of a good theme and am stumped. I found a cool cake pan for a carnival cake- but I'm not sure I want to do a carnival theme. I think that would more fun with an older kid so you can play games.
a friend of mine just had her DD's birthday party and did a ladybug theme- it was SO adorable!!!
i agree. i think it would be a great idea between 5&7 years old
DH and I joke about having a "retro" party with stuff from our childhood that we used to love...it's the only time that sort of theme would fly because she is still young enough. LOL
I don't think we'll end up doing that, but it would be funny. I am collecting ideas on Pinterest. I don't think we're doing a "theme", I am just collecting ideas for decor and cake and food...etc. We will see.
minnie would be super cute!! we're sticking with dr suess but I'm not probably goign to do actual invites or anything because it will just be close family, but the cake and the few decorations we have will be in theme. I'm gonna make green deviled eggs and ham of course lol I think that's my main motivation :P

We are doing a John Deere themed b-day for DS. We live on a farm, so it's fairly appropriate. His smash cake is going to be whoopie pie, since he is so interested in them when dad has one!

You probably know about the Dr. Seuss stuff at Target, but I also saw Dr. Seuss stuff at Michael's. :-)

Yeah I think it would be lost on a one year old! Any boy appropriate ideas, send 'em my way! Haha
Look at Party City's website - it'll give you an idea of all the themes out there for boys or just general party themes. My sister did a Rock Star theme for my nephew's party and was able to do cute kid stuff, but also had oldies playing and Guitar Hero set up for the adults to play. Haha!

Aw, i love the hungry caterpillar! So cute. What a fun theme.
And mands great new pic of Lulu. She's a doll.
I think we will end up with an Elmo theme. G just loves him. Not very original but he seriously is obsessed so it seems like the obvious choice.
We are doing a luau theme. I play Disney music on my phone on Pandora every night when we are getting DS ready to take a bath and stuff. And whenever the Lilo and Stitch music comes on, he gets super super excited. So, I figured that was perfect, especially because I wanted to do something as unrelated to Christmas as possible.
I, too, have been a Pinterest maniac for luau ideas. It's kind of ridiculous.

I think I'm really leaning towards a rainbow theme. I want something bright and colorful. A lot of the ideas I have, I can make myself.
PS- I agree about Pintrest. I'm totally addicted. I even have the app on my phone and was playing with it during our vacation. I started following some of you that have the link in your siggy.

Omg, I've been sucked into Pinterest (thanks, OSC!). We're doing a red and yellow Winnie the Pooh theme. I'm super excited.
You can't go wrong with Minnie, but the owl idea sounds really cute. I have a whole Pinterest board just for owl stuff.
I'm doing this too! (I'm pretty sure.) Aaaaand I am now following you on pinterest.
