CDing boys? I need help.

I built up my stash while we were in the process of becoming foster parents and I now have the chance to use it.  There are a handful of DD's left before I need to start the cloth and I feel like I need advice from some experienced CDers.

Our placement is a 1 year old boy who hates diaper changes.  This morning was the first time I had ever changed a boys diaper so I am pretty inexperienced with what goes where (body parts) and all that.

I will be using GroBaby AI2's and sized FB's.  Everything has been prepped and is ready to go.

I am pretty much looking for advice on CDing boys.  Any tips, tricks or anything else you want to share.

    DS is only 9 months old so I don't have a long time of experience with boys, but the only thing I can think of is to point his penis down.  You don't want him spraying up out of the diaper through the tummy. :-)

    TTC #1 since June 2009: irregular cycles
    BFP 1/20/10, EDD 9/28/10, born 10/5/10

    TTC #2 since Nov 2011:
    BFP 2/8/12, MC @ 5 weeks; BFP 3/22/12, MC @ 5 1/2 weeks; BFP 9/10/12, MC @ 6 weeks

    Started seeing RE Nov 2012. Chromosomal test and all other tests came back "normal". Unexplained MCs. Found mild hytpothyroidism. Two unmedicated cycles, both BFNs. First medicated cycle (clomid, ovidrel) 1/23/13. Low progesterone found during 9DPO P4 test = 7.6. Put on prometrium supplements.

    BFP 2/16/13; 2/18/13 (13 dpo): Beta #1=52.8, progesterone=18.7; estrogen = 412; Dr. increased progesterone dosage.
    2/21/13 (16 dpo): Beta #2 = 269; progesterone = 32.4
    2/25/13 (20 dpo): Beta #3 = 1,236
    2/28/13 (23 dpo): Beta #4 = ?? tbd

    Our son is almost a year and hates to be stopped for diaper changes. They just have too much to do you know? I find it helps if I always change him on the changing table. He seems to know that this is the place to get this done and then its over. Also, hand him a toy or some item he only gets when its diaper change time to keep him occupied. Maybe its a shiny knick knack on the shelf or something like that. My son loves diaper cream tubes even though we rarely use diaper cream.

    You are going to want to make sure that his fire hose is always pointed down toward the crotch of the diaper. If its pointed up or to the side, its easier for him to leak. Also, if you see it getting bigger, he is about to spray you! I havent used the types of diapers you are using, but they are all the same in general. You will learn to be quick!

    I second the advice you've been given.

    I know that they thin out as time goes on, but the pedi told me to pop DS's penis out and clean it (I was doing that anyway) it's inverted because he's a chubster. It can get yucky around the head of it if not properly cleaned.

    DS is VERY impatient and distractable. I'm so glad that he is interested in toys now, so I usually keep a couple on the table and hand them to him when he fusses. He's also starting to fight me by pushing his legs out straight. I don't fight him... I set his feet down and say NO, then wait a few seconds and try again. Eventually he gets the point.

    IMO it'll get easier as you get to know him and what works best for his personality.

    PG#1 - 3rd cycle BFP. Team Green. HELLP syndrome @ 34 weeks.
    Later diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, possible link to HELLP.

    PG#2 M/C 3/14 - Surprise BFP 2/13. Beta's doubled every 52 hours from 3w5d-5w5d
    Viable pregnancy scan at 5w5d; 2nd u/s showed 2 days of growth in 7 but a HB of 120
    3rd u/s on 3/10/14 had no HB and baby had only grown 7 days over 14
    D&C 3/17/14 - complications - DX Retroflexed uterus, multiple tears to cervix
