post about giving 4m infant a bottle?

Dear nesties,

One of you can help me, I'm sure. I'm looking for the post about giving an older "new" infant a boobjuice bottle. I'm up a creek.

This bebe ain't takin' and I have an opportunity to see NKOTBSB AAAAAANDDDDDD hottie hottie boom balloty Matthew Morrison next week. But when I went to see nkotbsb in Chicago a while ago, it was a disaster for the girl watching my kids. I've tried Breastflow and the Nuby sippies.

Help. NKOTBSB and Matthew Morrison vs. hungry baby.

 Priorities,

kewliegirl

She ended up trying like 5 different bottles and he hated all of them. Her MIL ended up feeding him with a spoon!! It was a PITA, but it worked :-)

    Good luck!

    Dear BH282093842038420342,

    Yep, that's it. Thanks

(also, too-lazy-to-edit-to-add: I've also tried Avent and Mam bottles)

  • I'll throw in one more idea that bh's post reminded me of. Along the lines of the spoon, I've read the suggestion to try a small open cup and let the baby sort of lap it out of the cup. (Yes, I realize I've just suggested feeding your baby like a cat, but apparently, it can work for some babies.)

  • When to my first LLL meeting last night and they were talking about giving milk via specialized droppers (similar to what you would give liquid meds with), spoon or even a cup (as mentioned by PP). It would probably be a pain in the butt to do this but, if it works, it might solve your problem temporarily.

  • we tried a ton of bottles including the breast flow, which only fustrated him more.  We ended up using the platex drop ins w/ the soft brown nipples.  haven't looked back since.  good luck!  he didn't have his first bottle til 16 weeks when i went back to work.

  • for us, the secret was making sure the bottle was warmed up enough (it took us at least 2 times in the bottle warmer for it to be warm enough).

  • Kind of along the same lines you could use the infant soft feeder.  It's sort of a bowl shaped bottle used for babies with feeding difficulties. Medela makes them and you can buy it through amazon.

Yep, Playtex drop-ins worked for us, too.  But my little nut job wanted them room temp at most.  He really preferred his bottles chilly.
