You will get used to it, I promise. I was on Nifedipine (Procardia) from about 22 weeks until I delivered at almost 37 weeks. Because it's used to treat angina, you might get dizzy, shaky, or have slow/increased heart rate. But - it worked for me to keep my babies inside. Good luck to you!
Another side note - it can cause low birth weight babies. My girls, almost full term, were under 4 pounds each. I was told it could have been straight up IUGR problems, OR the Procardia. Either way, they were still healthy, just small.
Thank you ladies! I know it was strange that the trebutaline did not make my heart races as the doctor said it would but the procardia did...And hot flashes like crazy!

So strange! They were the exact opposite for me.

The doc warned me that it may give me bad headaches, but nothing about the shakes or dizziness. I did notice that after the first time I took it I felt flushed and slightly headachey but that may have been because I was in L&D triage and had had nothing to eat or drink for hours and I have GD.
I was put on Procardia Thursday. Got my first dose in L&D and noticed a headache afterwards but like pp thought it was because I was hungry. I got my prescription filled Friday and noticed that taking it at home even after eating still gave me headaches and it's, unfortunately, a headache that nothing helps with. Oh well...I can deal with a headache as long as it keeps LO in a few more weeks. Hope your side effects get better as you get used to the medicine.
