burning feel under left rib cage anyone?

I am 20 weeks, so the baby is only 1 lb. I am not sure but the last 2 weeks I have been getting this burning sensation under my left rib cage almost under my left breast. Some days it is worse than others, it usually starts when I am an in an upright sitting position. It never happens while I am laying down. Does anyone have this same pressure/pain?  It is like heartburn but in the wrong area! Does anyone know what could be causing it? I don't think baby's legs can be in that area yet. Suggestions? I have Dr. appt. next week. Thank you!

It could be a gallbladder attack, I'd mention it to your doc and look up gallbladder diet. I spent like half my last pregnancy with that feeling that someone was holding a candle to my ribs because I thought it was no big deal.

  • It def could be your gall bladder. I went to urgent care 2 weeks ago with a SEVERE burning pain right under my sternum and it would shoot straight through my back and then move to the left periodically. The doc said it could have been a gas pocket or biliary colic (or similar to that) which is your gall bladder reacting to caffeine, carbonated products or high fat/greasy foods. It felt like a heart attack and it was the WORST pain ever. She told me to limit those items and carry gas-x on me just in case. I know a few people who had gall bladder issues during pregnancy so it could be that. Def ask your doctor to be safe.
  • My GB was VERY isolated on my right side. Left side around the same area is heart, so be careful.

  • I spoke to the nurse at the doctor's office. I was getting worried reading the comments. First they said the gallbladder is on my right, so that was of no concern. My pain is not severe and I have no other systems besides being gassy. It is just more of an annoying discomfort and it goes away when I lay down or do certain stretches. They felt there is no real concern, that I should take Zantax which I don't want to do. I will take a Maalox and see if that helps. They stated that is probably an acid reflux that is just showing up in that area...I go to the Dr. next week so they will check me further then. I guess they made me feel better that is nothing to be super concered about right now.
