So far that makes oatmeal, wheat, dairy and eggs. I highly doubt she'll be able to tolerate soy (though we haven't tried it yet) and she tested slightly positive for corn so I haven't tried that either. I tried venting my frustrations to DH tonight and he was just like, "so, give her peas and carrots, she digs those" I'm not going to give her nothing but peas and carrots for the whole rest of her life! I just want to cry
Re: Dang. Add eggs to the list...
oh i'm sorry!! hugs!
i wish peas and carrots could be the solution.. than everyone would be happy. but you can't thrive fully on only peas and carrots, i wish..
My DH is awesome with his allergies but from time to time he needs to put his foot in his mouth "Pasta AGAIN!" really, DH? yes, pasta b/c that's all he eats and I've tried 3 different things before that. Or if he gets a little tiny rash, he'll ask me "what did i do"..
-i want to cry sometimes b/c many times he'll pick up or touch something outside that is not in my control. I get blamed and questioned for everything.. i wish he could make his dinner from time to time.
Eggs is not that bad for an allergy IMO (it's the scariest one b/c everyone uses eggs in everything.. but for you to bake with is not bad), but i think soy is a PITA!. With eggs, you can just go Vegan (but eat the meat lol).. i don't miss eggs one bit in the house. It's amazing how many things you can use instead of eggs and they work, and work well..
hope your LO grows out of these!
(((hugs)) Peas and carrots, recommendation FAIL
He meant well.
It gets easier. For us it has anyway. While there is a long list of things my ds can't eat and reading labels gets tiresome, I am learning so much and my approach to protecting him has changed. You will find that there is so much support in places like this and the blog community.
I hope that your dd outgrows her allergies and you find ways to cope with these FAs. GL and we are here for you!
I wish I could give you a hug! I completely understand where you are coming from. It is so frustrating adding more and more foods to the list. You think to yourself, "oats? Really? Who is allergic to oats?" It was so hard for me to digest all of her allergies and deal with them.
Instead of thinking about peas and carrots for the rest of her life, you need to focus on peas and carrots for today. Remember that she can (and probably will) grow out of some things and it will get better as she gets older and things become more routine and she can talk and help you figure things out.
If it makes you feel any better, my daughter had 19 confirmed allergies at 9 months old and she was just retested a few weeks ago. She has grown out of a few of her allergies, like rice and green beans and wheat. So, even though I know it is hard and it feels like the weight of the world and her future is on your shoulders, just take it one day at a time and give her what she likes and can tolerate for today. ((hugs))
You guys are wonderful! Thanks for all the encouragement
You all hit the nail on the head, I feel totally responsible...I do the meal planning, grocery shopping, the majority of the feeding, I'm the one who put the list on the fridge of all the foods we've tried with lines through the ones she can't eat. Some of the weight is now lifted knowing that you all are going through the same things.
I know she has a great potential to grow out of at least some of these, but it is hard when she can't tell me what she wants or doesn't want or what hurts or how it hurts. Glad I have you guys to fall back on!
Allergic to soy, oat, egg, peanuts, and tree nuts
