Last night Dylan (18 months old) got locked inside our house. My Dh and Justin were outside while Dylan and I were inside. I went out to the garage to tell my Dh something quickly and came back to find the door locked! Dylan locked it!! I immediately panicked and was praying that the front door was unlocked. No such luck. I couldn't believe it. And of course we have a spare key but it was inside. My Dh who is calm as a cucumber starts to figure out how we're going to get inside. All the windows were locked too. He is not a Mr. fix-it kinda guy so I immediately doubt his abilities to get us in there. I went next door to the neighbors and of course they're hosting a dinner party and are all eating. I must have looked and sounded like a lunatic. My neighbor and a few friends came over with some tools and eventually got the door opened by bending the frame to get to the lock. I'm not even really sure how they did it. And I had called my sister while they were doing this, as she has a key to our house. They live 20 minutes away though so we didn't want to wait that long. However, I figured she could still drive out in case the guys couldn't get the door opened. So anyways, it all turned out ok but I felt so bad!!! We could hear Dylan crying behind the door at first and then luckily he walked into our livingroom and stood by the window for quite a while so I could see he was ok. He must have been wondering what the heck we were doing. And I was also a nervous wreck because our oven was on. I was pre-heating it and about to put in a pizza. Thank god I never put it in or else that would have started burning I'm sure.
So......we now have a key in our garage and I will NEVER leave the house again, even just to go into the garage for a second

Re: There goes Mother Of The Year award AGAIN!!
This happened to me a few weeks ago. DH was home in the basement...but with headphones on playing a game..so he didn't hear me pounding. After about 5 minutes I realized that my keys were in my pocket. Now I either take LO to the garage with me or I make sure I've got my keys.
I'm glad that you didn't put the pizza in yet!
