sex of baby don't know yet
QOTW: What are your birth plans? None prepared yet, other than keep family at bay until i've gotten settled in room Will you be attended by a Doula, Midwife or OB? OB Who will be with you? DH Will you/have you scheduled a CS? Will have a scheduled CS because of two previous CS and pelvis too small to deliver naturally, the only dates available are 12/23 or 12/26, both bad dates due to Christmas; trying to convince doctor to deliver earlier
What are your birth plans? get this baby out. by whatever means available. LOL - actually the real plan goes more like "tolerate labor as long as possible. Then try and tolerate it a little longer. Then, maybe, break down and request relief." That's about it.
Will you be attended by a Doula, Midwife or OB? OB
Who will be with you? DH and medical staff. If the kids ask to come in, they'll be allowed. But frankly they're a little squeeked out by the mere thought so they'll likely come in shortly after.
Planning a natural birth? What exactly is an unnatural birth?
(I'm open to the idea of medication depending on how things go)
Taking advantage of pain medications? we'll see. I'm flexible and open minded about it.
Will you deliver at Home, Hospital or BirthCenter? At this point, I don't give a flying fig. But the plan is at the hospital.
Will you have consistent or intermittent fetal monitoring? I'm leaving that decision up to the doctor.
Will you/have you scheduled a CS? nope.
Hang in there LauraLynne .. soon you'll be holding your LO in your arms!
Sending easy (natural) & short labor vibes your way.
How are you feeling? A little nervous about how few symptoms I have and am anxious for my NT scan/sequential screen blood work this week (results next week).
New pregnancy symptoms or any that have disappeared? Only food aversions, constipation, bloating really. Oh, and really sore boobs that are definitely a size bigger.
What are your birth plans? Hopefully a med-free birth with a midwife and doula at a hospital
Will you be attended by a Doula, Midwife or OB? Midwife and Doula
Who will be with you? DH and medical staff.
Planning a natural birth? med-free, if possible.
Taking advantage of pain medications? hoping not to, but who knows.
Will you deliver at Home, Hospital or BirthCenter? Hospital
Will you have consistent or intermittent fetal monitoring? No idea.
Will you/have you scheduled a CS? hope not.
Still having contractions, but nothing steady. Ugh. I am beginning to think this child may never come out.
I plan to give birth at a hospital and my husband will be the only one in the room besides the doc and medical staff when it comes time to push. I plan to take advantage of the epidural.
Hi all. I hope those of you near the end have quick, easy births in the very near future.
I thought my nausea had subsided but this morning it was back in full force. Last week, all I wanted was hummus. This week, the thought of hummus makes me gag and all I want are potatoes.
QOTW: What are your birth plans? I still have a lot to discuss with my OB. I would love to have a nicely medicated VBAC but I'm not sure if that will be a possibility. My uterus never got the hang of contractions last time around and I don't know what my OB's standards for how long past 40 weeks they will let you go and still try to VBAC. There is no chance in he!! of me going into labor before 40 weeks.
The only thing I'm sure of is that I will not have another induction and I will not be tied to the bed with that horrible fetal monitor. If that means a scheduled c-section, then so be it.
What are your birth plans? Nothing special...will have a planned section.
Will you be attended by a Doula, Midwife or OB? OB
Who will be with you? DH and medical staff. DS will be with his aunt until after birth.
Will you deliver at Home, Hospital or BirthCenter? Hospital
Will you/have you scheduled a CS? Yes
Feeling good but I get run down so easily. So much to do before this little girl comes. Wonder how we will be able to do it all!
huge and swollen still!
horrible reflux lately and easily fatigued.
the plan is to have LO delivered by my ob at the hospital. yes, i will be demanding an epidural as soon as possible!!! lol hoping for another vaginal birth but starting to feel a little nervous about actually delivering this little baby! can't believe i'm sooooo close!!!!
I'm still pretty much fine, but wow is my balance off! I've had to start using a chair to hang on to for standing yoga poses. Yesterday I was gathering the laundry, and I lost my balance and fell in slow motion. I was carrying one of those laundry hampers that are basically just a bag attached to a flimsy wooden frame, and that hamper is now splinters and kindling. (I'm fine, I rested for a good while after I fell and made sure the baby was moving fine.)
What are your birth plans?
Well, "plan" is pretty loose! I just want to have a healthy baby and get the heck back home.
Will you be attended by a Doula, Midwife or OB?
OB. I love the idea of a doula, but the reality is I would be self-conscious with one.
Who will be with you? Planning a natural birth? Taking advantage of pain medications?
Husband and medical staff. Margaux will either be with friends or with my sister, depending on timing. I am hoping to go med-free with minimal interventions, like I did with Margaux. I had a bad epidural experience ages ago and I really, really don't want another. I'm open to other pain relief, if needed, but I hope I can do without.
Will you deliver at Home, Hospital or BirthCenter?
Hospital
Will you have consistent or intermittent fetal monitoring?
I don't know! I'd rather have intermittent, if anything, because I like to move around.
Will you/have you scheduled a CS?
Not at this point, and I hope I can avoid one!
This is my 1st weekly check-in, please add me to the list?

EDD: 2/15/12
Gender: unknown, not sure we will find out
I?m having much more morning sickness this time ? more like nausea almost all day and worse at night and have the 1st tri exhaustion. Other than that, feeling well and just happy things seems to be moving along well.
I?m considering a VBAC (DS was breech and required a c-section) but, intend to do a lot more research before making a decision. We are really hoping to have another child after this one to complete our family and the risk of uterine rupture gives me pause.
big brothers 12.2009 and 02.2012
Tomorrow I'll be 27 weeks. I had a cerclage (emergent) at 20 weeks. My regular ob said I didn't need to be on bed rest but the periantologist said he would have kept me on bed rest until 32 weeks (I saw him today for a follow up echo). So I am going to restrict my activity until 32 weeks.
He said little Violet's heart & brain looked perfect. She weighs 2 lbs 4 oz. I go see my regular ob Thursday. She's kicking up a storm. On the ultrasound we could see that she had hair all ready.
Update: Just posted a separate poster. NST went well, fluid levels a little low. Maybe I will end up being induced before Friday (scheduled as of now). I am keeping pretty active, but no contractions yet. I really hope they start all of a sudden any moment now!
QOTW: I will be attended by my MF, and if necessary there will be an OB. My DH will be with me and possibly my mom. I am not planning a natural birth, assuming that means medications free. I would like to see how far I can go without epi, but I believe I will ask for it "on time".
QOTW: What are your birth plans? - have a healthy baby
Will you be attended by a Doula, Midwife or OB? - doula and OB
Who will be with you? -dh
Planning a natural birth? - all births are natural!
Taking advantage of pain medications? - want to see how long i can go without, but i am not opposed to pain meds, and can imagine that i will probably want some
Will you deliver at Home, Hospital or BirthCenter? - hospital
Will you have consistent or intermittent fetal monitoring? - try to keep this to a minimum
Will you/have you scheduled a CS? - had a scheduled c/s last time (son was breach) ... and still kind of sad about it. am planning a VBAC this time, but the docs keep old hags a pretty short leash. i really don't want another c/s tho. it was hard enough taking care of a newborn while healing ... but to try and be mom to a 3.5 year old AND a newborn while healing from major abdominal surgery ... no thanks.
Updates: I am scheduled to go into the hospital tomorrow night for them to administer Cervidil and then Wednesday morning they will start the induction. I did ask about letting me try to go into labor on my own but with the BP being wonky and the GD, my doctor doesn't want to risk waiting any longer. This is not going the way I wanted but I am thankful that I made it to full term. My doctor is amazed that I made it to 40 weeks!
QOTW: What are your birth plans? Deliver healthy baby. Hold and start breast feeding ASAP.
Will you be attended by a Doula, Midwife or OB? OB
Who will be with you? Husband and his wonderful Aunt
Planning a natural birth? Nope, this is an induction because of my health.
Taking advantage of pain medications? I will take an epidural, but I have requested that they not give me other pain medications.
Will you deliver at Home, Hospital or BirthCenter? Hospital
Will you have consistent or intermittent fetal monitoring? Consistent since I am being induced.
Will you/have you scheduled a CS? No
Oh...the birth plan. Medically required planned C-sect ((again)). Meds ((please)).
Updates:
BP was 160/100 at my NST this morning. Doctor mentioned the word hospital and then stood there and watched the nurse take my BP again 30 or so minutes later. It was 148/90. I didn't go to the hospital, but they took a pre-e blood draw again. My BP is always about 140/90 when I am pregnant. 160/100 is a bit extreme. The thing is....I didn't even feel nervous or hot or my heart pounding like I normally do when they take it and it turns out high. It was weird. But no blurry vision, no swelling, no protein in urine....we will see what the lab results say on Wednesday!
QOTW:
Schedule c-section all the way baby!!!! Not a popular topic on these bump boards, but I loved my two previous scheduled c-sections and am glad I will have my 3rd and last one 8/15. No regrets at all.
I am doing okay. i have had cramps on and off for the last 2 weeks. I am swollen up too. I go in tomorrow for an u/s to see if my placenta has moved up. Otherwise I could have a c section. we are having a boy.
QOTW:
OB. I hope to be home as soon as possible. Hopefully I won't have to have a csection. I have placenta previa. hoping my placenta moves up. i will have an epi. i could not do it the last time with out one. i stopped dialating until i got it. went from 3 cm to 10 cm in 10 mins after i got it. i am hoping things go as quickly as my last. i was in labor for only 3 hours before i had my ds.
I'm feeling great these days. Other than some shortness of breath walking up stairs or hills and needing to eat every two hours to keep my blood sugar in check, I don't feel any different than I did before pregnancy. However, according to my husband, in the last week I've started to look pregnant.
I started a prenatal yoga class last week. It was so fun to be around other pregnant ladies. They seemed so fit and healthy that it makes me want to keep it up.
QOTW: Thank you all for sharing your birth plans. The QOTW comes from my building concern about winding up with a CS - or as I like to describe it to my avid fisherman of a husband - being gutted like a fish. And since we want to have a second child after this one, I really really want to avoid the primary CS so as to have better odds of avoiding a RCS and the scenario Mrs. Jordana described so well above.
When we started trying to conceive, about 11 months ago, I thought that if I chose an OB affiliated with the best hospital in the area (Brigham - #2 in the country for women's health) I would ensure myself of having the safest delivery possible. But the more I read the less convinced I am that hospital deliveries are safest for mother or child.
The one thing that gives me hope that I'll be able to have a physiological birth (on my own time, when my body is ready, facilitated by being able to move around and find positions that are comfortable and productive for me) at Brigham is that I will be attended by a midwife unless something goes wrong at which point an OB will step in. However, Brigham's CS numbers are still in the 34% range for all patients and higher for mature moms, which scares the hell out of me.
I have an appointment with my midwife in a few weeks. I'm planning to use the time to strategize with her about how to avoid a CS while birthing at Brigham. For example, if having an epi is going to trigger a cascade effect that increases the likelihood that I'm going to have a CS, I'll skip the epi. If after that meeting I'm not convinced that I'll be able to labor at my own pace at the hospital, I'll be looking into birthing centers and home births - an option that I would have never considered this time last year.
Feeling great, and not very pregnant although I am. I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy has flown by. I still get the surprised looks when I tell colleagues that I'll be out in September because I will have a baby. I don't know how she is curling up so small...Pretty excited about her being here so soon, although I am not looking forward to the newborn phase.
Birth plan - hoping for the same as with Sarah, quick, easy, vaginal delivery. Hoping to get the epi a little earlier this time - because she was coming so fast, I only got it at 9 cm. Standard hospital birth with the OB, nurses and DH in the room. I hope we can leave the hospital so soon again (last time after 24 hours).

BOY!
OB, just DH and medical staff, natural as possible but will most likely have epi, hospital, as little monitoring as possible so I can stay mobile.
