I dont want to play all the games and quizzes. It always seems to have a certain amount of awkwardness to me. I've told my mil that I would rather have a baby social where we can just shoot the breeze, eat, open presents, and laugh together. You know, keep it low key and relaxed. What do you all think?
Re: Baby "social" rather than a baby shower?
We will defintiely do this. I am not a sundress wearing, gushing while a bunch of women sit around and watch me open presents type of person.
I think one way to make sure it is more of a social than a shower, is to make it coed. We did a couples shower for the wedding and it was basically just a big party with presents. I think we will do something similar for the baby "shower."
Ha ha! I am not a sundress wearing, gushing while a bunch of women sit around and watch me open presents type of person either!
Just to throw this out there...as someone with many male friends, I see the wounded and exhausted faces they make when anyone mentions a co-ed baby shower. DH, for example, fake-sobbed like a baby when a friend of our had one, and we ended up not going (we sent a gift though, and had a good excuse). Is it just me, or do men and women both hate baby showers and now we are trying to get men to share our pain?
