My husband is from Iran and we really want to use a Persian name. I think it is a wonderful idea and my only request is that it is is to pronounce and spell. So far I like these two. WDYT?
Amir
Navid (pronounced Naveed)

I adore Navid! So beautiful. I'm embarrassed to say that I discovered it while watching 90210 (there is a great character named this) and It has been a favorite for a while. Husband doesn't dig it, so I had to move on. You should use it!

I vote Amir, because I think it's more familiar to Americans, and I like the sound of it better. I once worked with a man named Amir; throughout the entire store, he was the only one named that, and it fit him perfectly.
I do agree with PP, that Amir would be more intuitive for Americans to pronounce, but I think it would only take one time correcting them, for them to pick up a simple name such as Navid!
I like Amir over Navid. if you are in the US I think people 'get' Amir over Navid- if I wasn't on this board (and therefore know better) I would have thought Navid rhymes with David.
If you aren't in the US, I think more people would know how to pronounce Navid over thinking it rhymes with David. So either name would be just as nice.
i like either amir or navid. navid is less popular, but both sound nice!
