Screeching

Are your LOs still screeching?  I think G got a slow start with it, but she is in full swing now.  She screeches/screams at the top of her lungs, over and over again.  I think it's mostly that she's getting a sense of her voice, but I also wonder if part of it is how she gets attention at daycare.

I've been wanting to say "No screaming" to her, but I know she won't understand that.  Redirecting her attention often doesn't work, though.  That girl loooves to screech!

  • Yes. All.The.Time.

He does it mostly when he is excited. It's pretty out of control. ha.

L just really started today.  Screaming when she was happy.  Screaming when she was sad.  Screaming when she was hungry.  Just plain screaming.

I guess the screaming, and the fact that she didn't nap at all today, are the reasons DH and I are currently on bottle number 2 of wine.

I hear ya!  Lots of screaming + very little napping today = a short margarita for momma. . . . again.

  • Charlie has been doing this for about 2 weeks now and it drives me up a wall. He doesn't do it as a happy sound, he screeches as a "I'm bored, pay attention to me!" sound. If we're doing dishes, cooking dinner, etc. and not paying 100% full attention to him, he'll screech. At first, we'd drop what we were doing and go to him since it is an alarming sound to hear out of nowhere, but now he does it even more.

Of course we tend to his needs, but we're trying to ignore the screeches as a way of communication. Since starting that, its died down and he's gone back to his normal way of "talking" to us. I obviously don't care that makes noises, but screeching to get attention has got to stop!

  • Ava was screaming last night when I was trying to get her to bed. She was overly tired and fighting sleep. She will screech when she is happy or excited.
  • Elliot has been screeching a lot, too!  Sometimes I think he is just playing with his voice, sometimes he seems to be doing it for attention, and sometimes it is just when he is excited.  He did it about 3 times at church today which made everyone turn around and look at us- great. LOL

  • yes, for a while now.  sometimes its soooo high pitched i have to cover my ears and the dogs hide.
  • WTF Please don't tell me this is going to start again!!!   Jack did this every month since birth - on 2 weeks, off 2 weeks.  It stopped at 6 months and if he starts again I'm gonna get some earplugs.  ::cries in a corner::
I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.
