Oh FFIL!

Don't get me wrong.. deep down I love my FFIL, but he's kind of hard to deal with at times. He's already hounding FI and I for another grandchild lol!

He thinks 24 months is a 'good age difference'. Never mind the fact that we're $30k in debt after a failed business attempt and this pregnancy was unplanned. We moved out of his place, into our own place, then into my dads furnished basement apartment because we're broke as a joke, and he's trying to tell us how awesome it would be if we started trying for another baby soon!

I guess I can't take it too much to heart. He also tried to light up a joint before we left his house today (with DD 3 feet away from him on the couch), and mentioned how he'll be calling the cable company on monday to ask them if they have some kind of government camera chip in his cable box to record everything he's doing in his home. Gotta love him. lol [insert eye roll here]

Re: Oh FFIL!

  • I remember you telling me about that cable box camera chip thing! So he's a paranoid stoner. What did you say when he tried to light the joint? I'd have shoved it up his nose.

I don't think I'd ever let him babysit! lol

  • Oh, and don't feel bad about the debt. DH and I just signed our paperwork for chapter 7, not how we wanted to go since we had good credit, but 60k in medical debt with the prenatal care, delivery and DS's NICU stay plus two ambulance trips was just too much to shoulder. That's not including the credit cards. We were financially well off before DS and he wiped our savings out because of our awful insurance that didn't cover squat and we had to start using the credit cards too. I don't know how people afford to have a baby anymore!
  • lol. He picked it up and stuck it in his mouth and I said " Uh.. dad.. think you could wait a few minutes till we leave?" Its like it didn't even dawn on him that it wasn't cool to smoke around her. He tried to argue that the door was open and his mom smoked cigarettes and drank beer during all of her pregnancies, and when he and all 11 of his siblings were growing up "and they're all still alive and well"... We have to remind him it's not the 50's/60's anymore pretty frequently lol. He will definitely not ever be babysitting lol.
