So much for DH's day off (vent!)

DH works 4 on, 4 off.  This summer has been crazy OT - like 6 on, 2 off.  He did just get 6 days off last weekend for his 20 year reunion though.

Today was day #1 off and his Dad just got out of the hospital.  He was in 2 years ago and went back to his home even though we all knew he needed to be in a care home.  He is a severe alcoholic and has drank himself to alcohol induced dementia and also has no bowel control. 

He refuses to wear his adult diapers (he is 62, I think).  SIL and her family (8 &5 yo kids) just went to help him get settled and found his apt was covered with feces.  Couch that was new 2 years ago, carpet, smeared on the walls, etc.  DH left about 1.5 hours ago to make the 3 hour drive to go confront his Dad.  Not sure what good it will do....  they have done this at least 2-3 other times.... 

Thanks ladies.  I needed to vent somewhere that no one knows DH or FIL.  DH has to work an OT shift tomorrow and then is on-call Tues/Wed.  There is a chance we can take our new camper out next week to visit friends from OOT.

    I'm so sorry to hear that!! Just sounds like a horrible situation all around! HUGS to all of you guys that this can be resolved and that your DH's next day off can be relaxing!!

    Thanks!  Pretty horrible situation all around.  I think I have the easy route of spending the day with my 3 monkeys.  DH did listen to me and NOT take our carpet cleaner to clean his carpets.  It would forever give me the creaps to use it on our carpets knowing it cleaned up his ***.  I told DH to just rent one if they needed one!  The girls have asked about Daddy though.  After 4 days of work, they don't understand why he is gone and I don't want them to know!!!

    Thats the SUPER hard part about having him gone....your girls totally notice ( not that you don't lol). Time for a special Mommy/girls day!!

    We were going to go somewhere but we've been hit with thunderstorms all day.  Dylan is napping now, which means quiet time for the next 2-3 hours.  I may decide to do something special/different for dinner though.  We usually try to do something special when DH goes OOT.

    Wow I'm so sorry you're dealing with all that, especially with DH being gone. That must be so hard. I hope you get that much-needed break soon!

    Thanks.  I beats being there and having nothing to do with the kids though.  SIL couldn't stay at their hotel because of bed bugs!  Luckily their Aunt lives in town & gave them room to crash.

    DH called and said they are trying to get FIL a hospital room to get stabalized then moved to an assisted living home....  we'll see because I do not see him going w/o a fight.  He smokes 2-3 packs a day and most likely couldn't smoke in there.  2 years ago SIL thought WE should take care of FIL because I don't have a job.  LOL  Yeah right!!  DH knew not this even think of that or we'd be divorcing, quick!  I wipe enough asses as it is.
