I was just told by a friend that when she realized she was in labor, she managed to get a few hours of work around the house (cleaning, laundry, etc) before going to the hospital.
I know that I'll probably labor at home for quite a while, but how realistic is it that I am going to get much done? I can't imagine being very productive in between contractions in this July heat! What have your experiences been?
In other words, should I get off my lazy, fat ass and stop procrastinating all of the things I want to get done? ![]()
Someone please say something to me to get me to start nesting before this baby pops out!!!!!!!
Re: Who got stuff done around the house while in labor?
So, I forced myself to do some nesting today. (Does it count if you force yourself?)
However, I was all over the place. I started cleaning the bedroom, which involved organzing the closet in order to fit all of my clothes.
But somehow, in the middle of that I ended up re-organizing the bathroom closet as well because things were falling out at me everytime I opened the door.
And that led to cleaning out the medicine cabinet and the bathroom vanity.
The kitchen floor didn't get mopped. The living room didn't get vacuumed, but at least I can feel good about under the bathroom sink. LOL . I am such a spaz right now. Can't concentrate on one project at a time!
maybe those things that need to be done really arent that important.
if theyre not that important, who cares if they get done now or when ur LO comes home
if they are important but you dont wanna do them... maybe theyre not as important as resting.
if ur like me...these things are important but not as important as being paralyzed with worry. i catch myself sitting down worrying about things that i can change and then forget about it! I have to remind myself that as fun as worrying is (lol) i can use my time in better ways...
most of my tasks are done, so now i can relax ALMOST worry free
With #1, my doc sent me in right from her office so I wasn't at home at all (I had NO IDEA I was in labor - I was only 37 1/2 weeks).
With #2, I bathed DD and put her to bed, cleaned, showered, shaved my legs, baked brownies, and so on between contractions, which were about 5 minutes apart for about 6 or so hours. Once they got painful, I sat down to call my doc - at that point, I couldn't talk through them so she told me to come in - I arrived about 45 minutes later and I was 7-8 cm!
