Babies: 9 - 12 Months

ever have to but baby in the car at bedtime when you are out and transfer to crib?

My parents live about an hour away. I was thinking about staying there until after dinner, doing bedtime routine there and then putting my 9 month old in the car. I was hoping to transfer him to the crib when we get home. I am scared he will be up for 2 hours though thinking it was just a nap. Has anyone done this successfully?

Thanks!

  • I do it all the time and have never had a problem.  Sometimes he doesn't even wake up!

  • I think you will be fine.  We put DS to bed in his pajamas and a PnP when we go to someone's house for dinner and are able to transfer him to the crib when we get home.  I think with a little practice they get used to it.
  • Woohoo, awesome. Thanks!
  • I do everything but the bottle wherever we are. Then when we get home, I change her diaper, give her a bottle and put her in bed, and she goes right back to sleep.
  • On the occasion we are out with the kids that late, we do it with both girls.  Never a problem.
  • Yup. Did it a few weeks ago when I was visiting family 2 hours away. We fed them dinner, did their bath/bedtime routine, jammies, stuffed them in their carseats and we left. They woke up once we got home but went right back to sleep once they were in their cribs. No biggie.
