trying to feel okay about going back to work

I bought 3 new tops and a sweater that would be good for pumping in today, plus tomorrow I am getting my hair cut and colored.

I also decided that I would go into the office with the baby over the weekend to practice pumping at my desk and get a little organized. Ugh, I can't believe my leave is almost over. Back to bringing home the bacon and frying it up in a pan, starting next week Monday...

Re: trying to feel okay about going back to work

  • The first day will be one of the hardest days of your life. Or at least it was for me with my first. But, I didn't cry and it was more anticipation than anything.

It was really hard to leave her with someone else to be cared for, but when it came down to it, I enjoyed being around adults and having a more set routine and getting a break.

It gets easier each day! Good luck!

  • It is definitely very hard that first day.  My DH had to go with me to drop off DS that first day because I knew I'd be crying.  It got easier each day, especially as I got to know his daycare teachers.  I think leaving DD will be easier now that I have a good bond with the teachers and support staff.  I'm almost looking forward to going back to work so that I have more adult time and I'm not home with a toddler and an infant.  I also found that by working I scheduled my time better and got more accomplished.
  • I just hope she lights up when I pick her up.  I want her to know it's me and smile.

  • Good luck!  That's a good idea to go in early and test things out.

I can't even think about going back to work without bursting into tears.  I'll probably cry on the bus all the way there, even though she's just staying home with DH.  I dread it.

  • ive already cried so many times at the thought of this! thry dont know her like i do, they wont change her immediiately, i don't want her to feel abandoned, etc. it's definitely going to suck. :-( i think taking several pictures for the desk will help, as well as making my favorites of her my wallpaper and screen saver. does your daycare have the watch me grow cameras? i already told my boss to expect it to be up all day.
