  • I guess they felt it was an accident. she is not going to have an easy life. She has destroyed her family. I wonder what her sentence will be for the gulty verdicts?

  • I am extremely shocked that they didn't find her guilty of the lesser charges at a minimum.

  • How was her trying to cover up the fact that the baby was gone for a month not a giant red flag!? I"m so shocked and disgusted by the verdict. All she did was lie and lie and lie. This is ridiculous. So who killed that poor little girl? This is horrible.

  • I'm sure I may be in the minority here but I honestly think the prosecution failed to prove that she actually did it. I'm not saying whether or not I think she did, but the prosecution was very sketchy in proving such. Alternatively, the defending attorney did a good job at making the prosecution look week. Like it or not, I agree with the jury.

So did they not find her guilty of a lesser or charge or would there be another trial for that?  What exactly did they say?  One of the news channels last night said she could still get up to 33 years if convicted of the other charges.

I thought when they came to a decision that quickly it was going to be guilty for sure.

She was found guilty on 4 counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer. Sentencing is set for 9am Tuesday (I think, or is it Thursday?)

  • Nancy Grace just said a maximum of 4 years for the charges of lying to police but that she probably will only serve a year of it and then walk free.

Regardless of how the defense did or how the prosecution did....I think people are pissed that there is no justice for this little girl. We have no answers to who killed an innocent child.

I agree. They would have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that she did it. Meaning, there is no other plausible explanation for what happened. I wouldn't want a justice system any other way. This prevents innocent people from being convicted of crimes they didn't commit.

What is the defense saying about Caylee being found buried near the Anthony home with duct tape over her mouth? I'm not saying I agree or disagree, I just don't know how they explained that.

I know the defense is saying Caylee drowned in the family pool...so what's the explanation for the burial???? wtf???

    Un-fvcking-real.

  • I thought for sure she would be found guilty of child abuse. I think she should have been found guilty of child abuse or neglect.
  • I was worried this might happen.  I think most people know she killed her daughter, but the prosecution didn't prove it.  So sad.

This is all true (I have no doubt she did it).  I think her mother is part of what cost the case, the prosecution had no real evidence, etc.  BUT, what kind of jury comes back UNANIMOUS after 12 hours with not guilty.  I am sickened by the jury.

I totally agree that there has been no justice for the baby; but I have a feeling someone else will end up on trial before too long. I can't see them letting this case go cold with no answers whatsoever. Especially since it's so high profile. All of America (and Canada) will be pressuring them to find the person who did this to the baby.

I agree, the child was missing for 31 days. I think they may open a civil suit for the abuse charges in the future.

I am not shocked, i never felt there was any real evidence proving it was her. She is as guilty as the day is long.

She will not serve a day in jail. She will get credit for time served, and they are misdemeanor, punishable with a max of 1 yr in jail, they may give her the max, but i doubt it

I'm in your boat here. From what I watched of the trial, it was a bit of a 3-ring circus. I don't fully agree on the defense portion, though I didn't see their presentations, just the cross-examinations of the prosecuting witnesses. Baez came off as if he was plucking at any threads he could and misinterpreting the points made in hopes of throwing the jury off. But no, the prosecution did not provide the concrete evidence necessary to convict Casey beyond reasonable doubt.

Do I believe Casey was guilty? To some extent. If she didn't kill her child something else was definitely going on to make her lie and hide the disappearance of Caylee. Her not testifying does raise my eyebrow.

This. I don't think there's a doubt in anyone's mind that she did it, but the prosecution didn't prove it. I told DH yesterday that she'd be found not guilty. It's really, really sad.

  • We did not watch the trial and have been loosely following it, but with the jury coming to a decision that quickly, the prosecution must not have proved a strong case. It was hardly any deliberation at all for a monumental case. My DH is an attorney and he said she will receive less than 4 years and time already served counts towards that time. I just want to know what happened to that poor little girl! Karma is a b*tch!

I tend to agree w/ you.  Granted, I think she's guilty and deserves so much worse than what she'll get, but the prosecution didn't prove it.  It's a tragedy, but I can't fault the jury.

What were they supposed to do?  Sit there and twiddle their thumbs for another 24 hours to appear sufficiently "torn"?  There was not enough concrete evidence to persuade the jury that there was no explanation for the death of this child other than murder by Casey.  It is still possible that Caley drowned, and that Casey was scared of the repercussions, and so did not report it.  It is also possible that she was happy her daughter died, but that doesn't make her a murderer in the first degree (a sick psycho, yes; a murderer, no.)  It was clear as day that the prosecution had nothing linking Casey to any act that involved Casey's death - that's not the jury's fault, and the jurors shouldn't have to put on a show to satisfy the public.  Their task is hard enough as is.

Yes - I have a gut feeling that Casey was involved in some way with her daughter's death.  In our country, though, our gut feelings are not enough to convict a person of any crime, and I thank goodness for that.

  • i'm at a loss for words over the verdict. but i keep thinking that maybe, much like a lot of people i wanted Casey Anthony to be guilty so Caylee can get justice. so maybe our judgment is clouded by that want. but it's undeniable that Casey Anthony knows something she's not telling to save her ass or someone else.

Whether she killed her daughter or she "drowned", Casey acted like she didn't care that her daughter was gone. THAT is not a true mother!!

  • Regardless of whether or not she really did it (we can't know for sure), I still was physically ill to watch the defense team celebrating, to hear the one defense attorney scolding the country/media for "media assassination", Jose Baez saying that this assassination shows how we don't care about the Constitution (uhhh, what about free speech?) and watching her laugh and smile - regardless of being found not guilty, your daughter is still dead and there is no justice for her. Ugh, just makes me sick.

No, there's not. The judicial system worked the way it is supposed to. The burden of proof was on the prosecution (innocent until proven guilty). They failed to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Would you rather be presume guilty until proven innocent?
