I shouldn't dry my covers and CDs with PUL, right?

I am pretty sure that is the case, but I couldn't find it in the FAQ.  I washed all of my covers for the first time and DH threw them in the dryer on low, but I'm thinking we shouldn't do that in the future, that we should just hang them to dry because it can cause delaminating, right?

I also got my BG 4.0 seconds from cottonbabies this weekend and their instructions say not to dry the CD only the inserts so that made me think that I was probably right in my thought on not drying the covers, but hanging instead.

  • I usually line dry my PUL, but every once in awhile I throw it in the drier if I'm in a hurry, or I think the pin holes need resealing.

  • Thanks!  It's good to know that a dry once in a while won't ruin them.  DH and I are still getting the hang of things.  I think I need to type up a wash and dry routine to post in the laundry room for him so it's easier to remember.

  • Hanging is best although some mamas certainly dry. My sister always dried all her cd stuff regards of material and it lasted through her baby. But the elastic yas now week and I want able to use her stuff for my baby. Was that due to drying? I can't say for sure. I dry my stuff on the line but if its raining I will occasionally put everything in the dryer on low heat and I don't stress too much about it. I also just bought a bunch of bg aio and they can stay on the line for 8 hours in intense sun and still be wet so up have started putting those in the dryer in low heat after they come off the line. Bottom line, line drying is best. An occasional spin in the dryer isn't the end of the world.

  • I dry mine on low every single time and haven't had any issues!  :)

  • I dry everythin on regular everytime and haven't had any trouble... and a lot of my things are on babies 2 and 3 since they were originally DS's. Also, since their being used by the twins they're used twice as much.
  • I have a drying rack in my laundry room that I use.  I used to use the dryer all the time, but I noticed some fading on some of my WAHM diaps, so that's when I started using my drying rack.  I have enough in my stash to line dry instead of using the dryer, which helps a lot.  I've never had trouble with PUL though.
  • Also to add to what the PP's have said, most manufacturers want you to do a hot wash and hot dry before you use your PUL the first time to seal the holes made from sewing the diapers/covers.  And an occasional turn through the dryer is suggested for the same reason.  Otherwise, line drying is suggested by most.

PS: I too line dry anything with elastic/pul.  My flats/PF's/inserts/wipes are the only things that get machine dried regularly.
