Firework freakout, anyone?

Happy post-Fourth of July Weekend!

Did anyone else's LO go crazy during the fireworks?  I hadn't given it much thought before yesterday, but I really didn't expect that.  Baby was kicking, rolling, and squirming throughout.  Poor kid is probably going to be born with PTSD.

Re: Firework freakout, anyone?

  • Yes, very much so. I was actually very nervous about how much he was moving. I sat in a chair and put two jackets over my stomach hoping to block out some of the sound. I have no idea if that did anything other than making my belly really hot, but it helped my nerves a little bit. I'm worried I made him deaf.

  • I was stopped at a stop sign on the street behind my house and the hillbilly neighbors there were apparently lighting off mortars. That was the first kick that actually hurt.

  • At least you know what to do now if your LO isn't head down when it gets down to the wire. Have DH light a firework, or shoot of a gun, and BAM! LO is head down! (A trick I learned from a family friend.) :)

  • Mine didn't go too crazy, but I think she was in a sugar coma from the cake, ice cream, and soda I had!

  • Ah, sadly we didn't have fireworks here because of the bad drought and fire danger. But LO did kick me a couple of times during the sirens from the fire engines in the parade yesterday. I just kept thinking how great it will be for him to enjoy the fireworks next year.

Hahaha, I may have to try this if LO is breech.

LO didn't go too crazy, but we weren't all that close to the fireworks. If we walk down the block from the house, we can see five different firework shows (three are close--two are more in the distance), so instead of being up close and personal, we have a panoramic view.

  • I expected a firework freakout after baby kicked like CRAZY during my MRI on Saturday, and didn't get one! A few little movements but that's it!

Happy to see someone else's LO is as obstinate as mine!

  • My LO was doing the same thing....I was surprised at how much he was kicking during all the loud booms. I know they can hear outside noises at this point, but I didn't expect that type of reaction!

  • She was pretty quiet throughout the show until closer to the end then she kicked a bit but the end is always so loud!!!

  • Lol I thought this kid was going to jump out of my vagina and hide under the table. It wasn't only fireworks for us though; we were at a pool party when a nasty thunderstorm brewed...no rain though for a few hours of it. But that mixed with a few fireworks definitely upset him.
