AR co-sleeper recalled

I was just coming on hear to ask the difference between the AR cosleeper and a PnP and then came across this on my month board. I thought I would forward it along, wasn't sure if it was posted yet. Sorry for the duplicate if it was.

ETA: Also just realized this is an older recall (from April) does anyone know if they have fixed it since then?

Re: AR co-sleeper recalled

  • Thanks for posting this. Ours is in a box buried deep in my parents' basement, so I can't check the serial number right now, however, I noticed that the required action was "download assembly instructions," not exchange it for a new one. This makes me think the recall is due to user error, not faulty manufacturing?

  • Yeah, I think you are right. Which is good to know. I will have to remind myself to assemble mine correctly when the time comes.

  • I don't know if they "fixed" it.  I get annoyed by recalls like this.  According to that article, the injuries were caused by not using the product correctly.  The instructions specifically outline the risks involved with not attaching the fabric liner correctly. I swear the instructions say "DEATH" quite often.

There are so many products out there that can cause harm when not used properly.  People need to start taking responsibility for their own children's safety and, I don't know, use common sense.

If that is truly why these babies were being injured, I wouldn't hesitate to continue using my AR co-sleeper.

I'm almost positive that's for one of the older models, too, not the currently manufactured one. I gave birth to my LO in April and have an AR co-sleeper, so I remember panicking about the recall only to realize it only applies to the first generation version.

  • I am pretty sure the recall is for older models. Recalls like this annoy me. The instructions that come with the AR are so detailed with lots of warnings about the proper way to assemble and use. Unfortunately, some parents don't read instructions carefully.

  • If this is the same recall (I'll be honest, I didn't check the link) people were putting their babies in the bassinet without putting the liner in it.  It's a stupid human error.  I accidentally put mine together that way when I moved it to another room and put the side up.  I stood there staring at it thinking, "This can't be right.  He can just fall through the sides."  Sure enough, I read the instructions and I had done it wrong.  I fixed it and moved on.  When I read the recall I was stunned.  It pisses me off that people make stupid mistakes, put their child at risk, then try to sue the company.  My point is - I don't think it was a flaw with the actual unit, I think it was a clarification error in how to assemble the arcs.  Although my instructions seemed pretty clear.
