I was planning on buying a pump this week, but my very good friend just lent me hers. It is basically just the motor bag and I buy tubes, shields, membranes and valves. I looked up replacement kits, and saw some on amazon, but they look a bit sketchy. Any suggestions? It's the pump in style. TIA!
Re: Where's a good place to buy medela replacement parts?
The sets on amazon are sketchy and have TERRIBLE reviews. Here is the place I found. You can buy it all on medela's website, but it's hard to find on there and much more expensive...

The reviews are great, they have sold a ton and you can pick and choose what you want and need and all for $32!
Someone recommended to me to wait til after my LO Is born so I can choose the right size shields (since buying them in the store they are super pricey) and the wrong size can be painful and ineffective. Since I am planning to exclusively breast feed for a few weeks I think I'll have time to get em! GOOD LUCK!
I also have a pump in style and I bought all the parts at Buy Buy Baby and the tubes online through
https://www.mybreastpump.com/
And the tubes arrived within 4 days or so.
Quick question for anyone using a borrowed pump- are you concerned with all the warnings from medela not to use a preowned pump? I'm also using one from a friend but bought all new parts. I read an article about how the milk can back up into the pump and create mold...I really don't want to purchase a $300 pump, but I obviously don't want to compromise the health of my baby. I don't know if I'm being too lax about it or if I should be more concerned...
True. That's why I'm a little confused. It doesn't seem like it should be used again for a second baby even if it's the same user if the mold theory is true. I guess my concern is that the milk gets into the tubing and mixes with whatever is in the motor. But in that case I think I just have to be vigilant about keeping the tubing clean and it should be ok. I found a board on the medela site talking about keeping the tubing clean:
While it is not our standard protocol to participate in our discussion board posting, we would like to be sure you have the proper instructions for tubing care. Condensation is a natural result of humidity in the air or not drying tubing after washing, and can occur with any manufacturer?s pump kit. Condensation can be prevented simply by keeping your tubing clean and dry. After pumping, remove tubing from breastshields and allow pump to run for 1-2 minutes until tubing is completely dry. Tubing Care ? Inspect tubing after each pumping session for condensation and/or milk. If milk appears in tubing ? 1. Turn off the pump and unplug from power source. 2. Remove and disassemble the tubing, pump connector, piston, cylinder, membranes and membrane capes (parts vary by pump used). Wash in soapy water, then rinse in clear cold water. 3. Shake water droplets out of tubing and hang to air-dry. For faster drying, attach tubing to pump and run pump 1-2 minutes or until dry, or pour a small amount of isopropyl alcohol through the tubing to dry. Please contact Medela Customer Service at (800) 435-8316 if you have any further questions. Thank you.
Here is the link to the blog I saw the info about the mold:
