Lately, my m/s has gotten worse... I've had a water aversion for the past five weeks, and I've (shamefully) only been drinking about 8 oz. of water a day. I have, however, drank a lot of homemade brothy soups, along with lots of fruits and vegetables during that time, though it doesn't always stay down.
Particularly in the last two days, I feel like I've thrown up all the water that I've drank, along with 70% of my food intake. I used to have relief starting at about 8 or 9 p.m., but I don't get that anymore... I throw up everything up until I go to bed at about 10:30, and when I wake up in the middle of the night, I feel like I have to puke as well.
I'm already on Zofran and wear Psi Bands, and they don't help much. I called into work for my first sick day ever yesterday... I get lightheaded once in a while, but yesterday, I had issues getting out of bed at all, because every time I would stand up, everything would start turning white (I ignored that once a couple years ago and ended up passing out), so I would have to lay back down in bed.
I really worry about my fluid intake, but I'm still peeing regularly (woke up three times last night to pee), and my pee is still light yellow and looks healthy. I did the skin pinch test, and my skin always goes back flat immediately, so that's fine too. I feel like I'm not getting anywhere near as much water as I need and that I throw up what little I do drink, but my pee color and frequency seems perfectly fine... so when do I know when it's time to head to the ER for an IV? I want to make sure that I'm doing what's best for my baby, but I don't want to go in "crying wolf" either...
Re: When to go to ER for dehydration?
I do have my next OB appointment next Wednesday, so I'm definitely going to bring it up then. I am eating about six small meals a day, but the majority of it just comes back up about a half hour to an hour after each meal.
Yes, a water chug would be a terrible idea for me. Even when I try to do four small sips of water every 20 minutes, it triggers vomiting for me.
I am so sorry! I agree that if you're peeing and it's not bright yellow, you're probably okay right now, but I don't blame you for worrying. I don't know your doctor situation, but if I was worried like you, I'd call my doctor and talk with his assistant about it. At the very least, bring it up at your next appointment.
I haven't been throwing up, but I've been super nauseous and, up until this week, water has been a real trigger for me. I could drink a bit of sparkling water with a lime wedge, but not much and not regular water, which is not like me. If you're anything me, the m/s will subside eventually you will have a new appreciation of being able to drink water! =P

In my experience, by the time you realize you are starting to dehydrate, it's usually time to go get an IV because at that point, you can drink all the gatoraid and water you want and it's not going to replenish you fast enough. If you start to feel weak, feverish, get the shakes, and body aches, call your doctor on the way to the emergency room to get re-hydrated ASAP.
Keeping down only about 30% of what you are taking in aren't the greatest odds. You can call your doctor at the first chance possible and see what they want to do, that's always the safest bet instead of waiting til your appointment, even though it's that close.
I say if you have to ask and it's worrying you, why wait? The doctor's give us their numbers and pager numbers for these situations. You are paying them so use all your resources!
I hope you get to feeling better.

Don't just look at the color of the urine, also note the smell. If the smell is strong, regardless of color, it can point to dehydration as well.
I would go if I were you.... usually I would think you were ok with regular urinating and all. But if it's been weeks for you... and maybe 1 week for me, it's probably a good idea to go. I mean everyone is different but I had to go in tonight when I didn't even think I was dehydrated. I ended up having to get an IV and receiving 1000ml of saline.
I hope everything works out and you start feeling better. I can definately sympathize with the m/s getting worse and everything, even fluids, coming back up. I've been going through the same thing..
