Hi all!
I think I've seen some posts on here about All About Women in Wellesley in the past and had a question... I have my first "in-take" appointment in two weeks (week 8) and I was wondering what a typically in-take appt with this doctor includes. Sounds like I will only see the nurse, and no doctor yet. Do you think they will do a u/s or check for the heartbeat?
Appreciate your insights.
Re: About Women by Women (Wellesley) - intake appt?
Unless you have a history of M/C you will likely just have some blood drawn and fill out tons of paperwork. Bring your partner as they will want some of his blood as well for genetic testing at some point. There are lots of questions for him to answer about his family history too.
For my 8 week intake there, they did an u/s. They said it was for dating purposes. They told me when scheduling the appt that they would do this so my husband came to the appt - he left after the ultrasound. Then I met with a nurse, answered a bunch of questions (I already asked husband for his family medical history so I provided both of ours). Then she answered my questions. They took a lot of blood. They said they would only need his blood if I came back as a carrier.
I had another u/s at 12 weeks (nt scan) and more blood work as well as a pap exam. The Dr did not try for heartbeat. Other than internal exam, the dr would have been in the room all of 10 mins to answer my questions.
Then at 16 weeks I had more blood work, unfortunately a 2nd internal exam (not enough cells the first time - ugh) and finally heard the heartbeat! We had seen it on the u/s earlier but hearing it is great.
At 18 weeks we did the anatomy scan - just u/s, no appt with Dr. We found out we are having a boy
My next appt will be 20 weeks and I'll see the Dr for a normal visit and because my baby boy would not flip over to show his spine, I'll get another u/s. Fortunately they said everything looks great but they need the spine image for records so we get to see him again.
I think after that I go for 24 weeks and maybe 28 weeks then switch to every 2 weeks and once a week at the end.
Hope this helps.
