Infertility

How do you handle half a vial of injectable meds?

So my RE's office said that when I need a half vial as part of my dose, I should put two ccs of liquid into one vial of powder, then pull up ~1 cc.  My question is, does the rest of the medication go in the cupboard or in the fridge?  Or is it okay to pull it up in a second syringe and store it until the next day?

Hope I'm making sense!  TIA for your help.

  • I was told that once it is mixed you can't save it.  Did your doctor tell you to use the second half?  Do you have enough vials to not save it?  I would for sure call your RE and find out.

They did say that I could pull it up into another syringe, but nothing about how to store it, I don't think.  I need to pay more attention.

  • What med is it?  I'm pretty sure once it's been mixed it needs to be in the fridge, but I'd call your RE.

It's Repronex.  I think I'll store it in the fridge and call in the morning.

  • With my trigger (Novarel), RE had me mix 2 ccs into the powder, then inject 1 cc.  I stored the rest of the unused vial in the fridge and then would do 1/2 cc the day after IUI and 1/2 cc 4 days after IUI.  So at least for Novarel, it's ok to put in the fridge after it's been mixed.
