Trying to Get Pregnant

Changing your temp time

Hi ladies,

I normally take my temp at 6. This is when I was working. I just started temping this cycle, can I change my default temp to 7:30 and still be able to make generalizations between cycles? Or should I keep it at 6 for more consistency?

Thanks as always for your support! (FYI, DR STILL hasn't called back to talk with me about TTC with Lyme Disease. UGH!)

If it is a new cycle, I think it would be okay to change the time.

  • Definitely change to 7:30 and sleep in a little.

You could still make generalizations between cycles, but just related to the overall pattern, not to specific temps since your 7:30 temps will probably be quite a bit higher.  Just keep in mind that cycles are frequently different.  :)

  • I changed temp times for this cycle.  There should be no problem if you are changing at the beginning of the cycle.  You need to be consistent through the cycle however.

As for comparing previous cycles, you are looking for an overall pattern.  Not specific temperatures on any specific cycle day.

    Hope that helps!

  • If you're going to change times, I would wait until a new cycle starts if possible.

I'll be facing the same thing soon. I'm off work this summer so I'm temping at 6 when DH gets up to get ready for work (of course, I have no problem going back to sleep afterward), but once the new school year starts I'll have to switch to 5:15 or 5:30 when I get up for work. My plan is to switch to the earlier time when my next cycle starts.

I agree with this, but I am no expert.
