I have been on the pill for 10 years approx and this is my last month on the pill
. What should I expect? Did any of you ladies have normal cycles right away or were they abnormal? My H & I are going ttc soon but thought I should try and get my body off the pill for a couple months before trying. Any feedback would be wonderful! Thanks!
Re: last month on the pill
Some women regulate immediately but most take several months and some even take close to a year to regulate. Hopefully you regulate sooner than later!
If you're wanting to get a head start on ttc, I'd check out charting with fertilityfriend.com. It's an awesome site and most women who use it wish they had started sooner. Good luck!
I started my period after 3 days off the pill and had a fairly normal 30 day cycle. A bit long for me, but nothing too insane.
I am only on cycle 2, and it seems I O'd on CD11 which is pretty early. It is possible my normal, 27 day cycle is just returning, or I am going to have an insanely short cycle.
I think everyone here will tell you to start charting right away even if you are not TTC right away. You will start to understand what your body is doing and be more prepared.
GL!
Many women's bodies return to normal within a few weeks to months. Most of the time, cycles are irregular and unpredictable. There is no medical reason for stopping the pill early before TTC, other than it helps with predicting O and knowing your cycle pattern.
My only advice is to schedule an appt with a Dr if you don't get AF within 3 to four months.
Best of luck!
Well I signed up for fertilityfriend.com; im having a hard time understanding it. Course I'm still on the pill but it show's me (estimate) ovulating on CD14 (which was 2 days ago but didn't say Acutal, just estimated), would that be early? It's just a bit confusing but I'm sure the longer I do it, the easier it'll be to understand. thanks for the advice. I didn't realize so much work was involved. I think our plan will be tho to just use no protection for a few months without worrying about it and then if don't I'll really look closely at the charting. We aren't in a huge hurry but I'm getting excited!
I had my normal "placebo" bleeding 4 days after stopping the pill (typical for me). Starting with that date, my first cycle off BCP was 49 days long. At first I was planning on taking the "wait and see" approach, no temping, just watching CM and tracking when my period started, when we BD'd, etc. I started temping at day 35 just in time to catch my O. I started temping because I was getting worried that I had not ovulated and had taken a few HPTs thinking that I DID ovulate and was late for my period.
I would say that the decision on whether or not to start temping right away or wait and see for a while depends on your personality. If you are more of a go with the flow kinda girl, this might be great for you. I personally like to have a plan, have all information available, etc., and so I have felt much more relaxed and in control (if there is such a thing with TTC!) since I started temping and charting formally. Now I don't have to wonder IF I ovulated or not, IF I'm late or not, YNWIM? I chart on paper and using FF. But its definitely a personal decision.
The prediction that you are going to O on CD 14 is based on the mythical standard 28 day cycle, since this is your first time entering data on FF. I'm on my first cycle using FF, too, and it changes your predicted dates the more info you enter.
GL to you!

Great! Sounds like a blast! I did get off of it one time before for a year- I did lose about 6 lbs in 5 months without trying but did get acne and got it not only on my face but my arms. And it's still there on my arms and I've been on it for 5 years since I was last off. So I'm not to excited about that. I do NOT want to gain weight right now.
