What PP said. You can't avoid stretch marks by slathering on a cream. Your chances of getting stretch marks have to do with your genetics for the most part.
Pregnant bellies do get dry as your skin stretches, so you may want to use a cream to cut down on the itching and flakiness. Any old body cream will do.

I use plain old cocoa butter, and did with DD as well. Didn't get any stretch marks. As PPs said, pregnancy stretch marks are pretty considered a hereditary thing, but I figure it can't hurt to try! I do think it's possible that it may help to keep the skin moisturized and massaged as it stretches to minimize the trauma to it (and yes, to keep it from itching like crazy).
FWIW, I do have noticeable stretch marks on my hips from when my butt
grew fast in my late teens, and b/c of that I expected them in pregnancy. Hoping I avoid them this time as well.

Hmmm. I knew the "disappearing" or "no stretch marks" at all were crocks...I thought there would be something to lighten them a bit, I guess....sorta like when you apply vitamin e on a scar it's supposed to help it heal/fade as it ages. Oh well.
