Anyone seeing an RE for recurrent pregnancy loss?

What can a RE even do for me? I can get pregnant like a champ, I just can't stay pregnant. I am just now in the midst of my 5th chemical pregnancy and we've been trying for 10 cycles.

My first appointment is August 5th but I just don't understand what they can even do? Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks so much, I just feel a little lost.

I am so sorry that you have gone through so many losses.  I don't have the same problem as you, but I have a friend who did.  An RE can try to help you figure out why you miscarry and based on the reason, they can then try different things to help you keep the baby.  My friend had to do injections during the entire first trimester in order to keep the baby.  I assume that they were progesterone injections or something along those lines.  I hope that they are able to find the reason that this is happening for you and find a treatment that will work to help you get a sticky baby #2!

Thanks Jenny, I am looking forward to seeing the RE (kind of), I just want some answers.

I've had my progesterone tested by my OB and he said it was "normal" (it was the 7dpo bloodwork)...I still feel like I am bottoming out after 9DPO and then losing the baby.  I've mentioned this to my OB and he didn't seem too impressed.  Maybe the RE will test me a little more extensively for this.  My temps do drop to just above my coverline even when I'm pregnant and then totally drop below when I start to bleed.  I wish my OB would have just given me progesterone supplements for every cycle I get a BFP, maybe I'd still be pregnant with one of them :(

    Thanks again :)

From my experience, OBs don't now very much about getting pregnant or keeping pregnancies if you have a hard time with it.  I think you will be in much better hands with the RE.  I hope the new doctor is able to give you a take-home baby!

I agree with Jenny. OBs have a totally different and sometimes remedial knowledge of getting/staying pregnant. I have a history of c/ps and several months of nothing that my RE believes were probably c/ps during some months. I had a progesterone test that was "normal" but low and RE believed I was not Oing strong enough. He believes with a good strong O you're P4 can support itself. That is just my situation but I did end up PG and so far it looks promising. Have you had RPL testing done? RE will likely do that too if not. Getting a new perspective from a specialist might really provide some insight. Good luck on your journey!

Thank you for this post. I am in a similar situation as you, getting pregnant is not our issue, but staying pregnant surely is. Once I am over this hump from my molar pregnancy, I plan to see an RE. I am on a forced break for a still un-determined amount of time, but meanwhile I hope to get in with an RE and get some testing done so we can have a good plan in place once I am able to try again. Good luck to you! Sorry about your loss(es), but I hope the RE can find the perfect combination for you to keep your next baby. Big big hugs.

    me,,,

For us, they were able to identify some of the causes of our recurrent losses.  They think ours are from my thyroid disease, blood clotting issue and egg and sperm quality.  Ivf is supposed to help with all of these.  I'm on meds for the thyroid disease and blood clotting issue.

That happened to me.  It was as simple as needing adequate progesterone support.
