Babies: 6 - 9 Months

What the heck is your kid eating?

I know the answers to this will vary widely, but I'm just trying to get a feel for what I could/should be trying with B.

We are aiming for two solid "meals" a day, still stage 1 purees and rice cereal or oatmeal. Oh, and a crapload of formula.

B is six months, but about 23lbs so I have no idea what an appropriate amount of real foods should be right now. Bottle baby was much easier to figure out, I tell ya.

  • wholesome baby food.com has some good guidelines as to how much.

LO has 2 meals a day and breastfeeds as well.  He eats oatmeal and a fruit for breakfast and dinner is usually all veggies and maybe oatmeal or quinoa or lentils.

I am looking for some new ideas myself!  We will be moving to finger foods soon.

  • LO gets oatmeal (with fruit half the time) for breakfast, veggies pureed for lunch, and some type of meat/veggie combo for dinner. She is BF, so I'm not sure how much milk she's getting. She usually nurses 5 times during the day and 1-2 times at night (she's been teething lately so it's more like 2-3 times a night for the past week or so).

  • Breakfast is usually plain yogurt (6% MF Balkan style).  Lunch is a steamed veg or two ( carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, squash, etc) and whatever protein I'm having, so chicken breast, salmon, cheese (new to us today and he loved it!).  Then supper is similar to lunch.  We BLW so we don't do purees.

  • At six months I was doing exactly what you are doing.  Now she eats what we eat (plus formula)
