What pregnancy "rules" are you breaking?

I know I'm not the only one doing things I said I wouldn't when I first got the BFP.  For example, I'm drinking a small serving of caffeine every morning and I eat lunch meat whenever I want.  My midwives gave me the go ahead, so I'm not feeling too guilty.  What about you guys?

  • I'm trying to eat healthy but cheeseburgers are so good!  I figure moderation. 
  • I have a diet coke everyday, sandwiches whenever the mood strikes, hot dogs for breakfast, and I am having a love affair with feta cheese.  Strangly enough, I can't bring myself to have a glass of wine until he's born.

  • I try to not eat deli meat unless it is hot but I don't think I'm heating it long enough.  I don't like to break the rules...Wink
  • I have one cup of coffee every morning.   I've had feta cheese, unheated deli meats, hot dogs, undercooked steak (I like mine medium rare), I've pretty much broken them all.  Now I don't break them on a daily basis, but I will admit to not following the guidelines at all times.  I figure my mom had me, I was fine and they didn't have any rules like this in the 70s.

    I eat healthy on a daily basis though and have increased my fruits, veggies, fiber, etc.  But some days you just want some feta cheese and dammit I'm going to have it!!!

    I feel like I am breaking a lot of "rules". I feel like a lot of the rules get to be SO ridiculous sometimes!

    I also have been eating lunch meat, taking hot showers, drink coke daily, and I have drank a glass of red wine twice. Oh, I also have drank n/a beer quite a few times. (doctor said this was border line.)

    I just feel like sometimes I need to keep my sanity!

  • I drink the equivalent of 2 cokes most days in caffeine and also ate a subway sandwhich today.  If I'm having trouble pooping I will skip a prenatal and take it every other day to try and hope to reduce the iron and get thigns going a little.  Surprise  

     

  • i put a little crumbled blue cheese on a salad the other night.  then i could barely sleep wondering if the baby was kicking enough.  i have had a few glasses of wine since june, but play by most of the other rules.  including the recent no sex rule imposed by my doctor.  ugh!  17 weeks and counting!  looking forward to labor never seemed possible!!
  • I love hot dogs and I like my steak a little pink.  My grandpa was a butcher and he used to say that was the only way to eat steak.  I have a lot more salt than I should.  I bought some reduced sodium soup and was so proud of myself, but it was too bland so I added some salt.  I have too much fried and processed food and probably am not eating enough veggies.
  • The only meat I can get down is bacon and dammit I LOVE IT!

    Oh, and in re: an earlier reply, I eat my steak medium rare every single time.   

  • Too much coffee, although i've cut down from a pot a day to a cup or so a day. And feta cheese, really.. unpasturized cheese.
  • Small serving of caffeine?!   Hell, I go for the 32 oz. Cherry coke.

    So, I guess you would think of me as bad. I break almost all the "rules" And  BTW, it isn't breaking them if you got the go ahead from your mw.

    I second you on the hot showers. I'm also into our hot tub but i get out before i start feeling hot. boooo! Also can't live without the occasional latte and caffeinated soda. I haven't jumped into having wine yet but i have a feeling that one will happen eventually.. i'm dying to have a glass of wine!

  • I eat too much fast food im sure and not enough veggies. And I did eat at a Japenese Steak House twice, but I only ate cooked crab meat in my sushi! And maybe twice a week a diet dr pepper. :)

  • I have at least one pop a day. I have a serious turkey tom craving from Jimmy Johns that I give in to on a regular basis. Otherwise I think I have been fairly good. That I know of.

  • I'm a rule breaker at heart.  I've been eating pretty much like I did pre-preg only I eat the "bad" stuff in moderation.  I've even eaten sushi on occassion, just not nearly as much as I did before PG.  I'd had an occassional half glass of wine too, but rarely.  Otherwise, I'm pretty much living like I did before getting pregnant.
  • I've had many sips of H's beers and am thinking about having one of my very own very, very soon. :)
  • I have a cup of coffee everyday, I've eaten feta cheese on pizza and have had a few sips of wine hear and there but I'm about to treat myself to a nice 1/2 glass of wine this weekend!
  • I eat feta, blue cheese, deli meat, and the occasional soda.  I can not bring myself to drink alcohol though.
  • I drink coffee everyday(1/2 caffeine).  Diet coke a couple times a week, hotdogs and lunch meat when I want. I've dyed my hair twice and will do so again very shortly.  I'm sure there is more but that is all i can think of now

  • Oops.  I had bacon and didn't even know it was not allowed.  Besides that have tried so hard and haven't broken any rules.

  • I take hot showers, have a coffee once a week and CANNOT refuse pepperoni! ?I'm embarassed to say that my pepperoni intake is probably not what one would call "in moderation", especially this week :(
  • Coffee in the a.m. and coke zero in the p.m. if I so desire.  Glass of wine occasionally.  With your 2nd baby, you get over some of the "rules." 
  • I always eat lunch meat, hot dogs when I feel like it, steak medium rare whenever I have it, and I have atleast one coke a day.  I also crave sushi hard core every single day, so I have the cooked stuff.  But after the dr told me yesterday that a little raw is ok, I had some spicy tuna yesterday.  And I plan on having a 1/2 glass of wine very soon after the ok from the dr, too.
  • Ok, no bacon, pepperoni or hot showers?! I must have missed the memos. These are daily comforts for me.

    Also, I've had a small glass of wine here and there, deli meat from places I trust,  goat cheese when I need it, the list goes on...

  • I crave Coke constantly, so instead of opening one and drinking the whole daggone thing, I take sips (or maybe gulps??) of my husband's almost every day.  I also have a small cup of coffee almost every morning.  So I guess the only rule I'm breaking is the caffeine rule.  I'm trying to stop now while it's still early, because I heard it can affect how the baby sleeps!  Aaauuuggh!
  • I am not a big stickler on 'the rules' and with this being baby #2 I am even more laidback. Coffee, usually a cup a day, sushi (not nearly as much as pre preggers), and I've had a glass of wine here and there.
  • ok, so many of these "rules" I have never heard of!  Ones I am aware of that I am breaking:  deli meat, too much sugar, too much salt.

    Ones that I have never heard of that I am evidently breaking:  caffeine (my dr said up to 3 servings per day is ok), pepperoni, hot showers, hot dogs

  • i take pregnancy category C medications on a daily basis. and i refuse to feel guilty about it. i eat lunchmeat but was not told to not eat it from my doctor. i eat all kinds of cheese. i take baths in fairly warm water. i dont get enough dairy except in the form of ice cream and cheese.  i eat pepperoni and the occasion hot dog. i eat salt, cholestoral, and refined white sugar! i don't do caffiene but i haven't for years bc it makes me jittery. i have had a glass of champagne and a little wine since BFP.

    Bacon is not against the rules, but some people avoid cured bacon because of the nitrites. 

    And all you folks claiming to be rule breakers because of your cheese. I'm 98% positive the stuff you ate was pasteurized, so it's fine.

  • If I want a beer, i'll have one.  but only one & probably at most twice a week.  I eat most things on the 'naughty list' with the exception of blue cheese/feta (its just gross), prawns & pate. 

    These lists are a bit out of hand, all things in moderation!  Our mothers ate as usual & we're all fine!

     

  • I have a latte every morning, eat lunch meet (because all other meats make me ILL) and I had half of my husbands Coors Light the other day. *gasp*
  • Add me to the lunchmeat list too. And I have one diet pepsi a day.
  • I don't get enough calcium. I take advil for a migrane. Have hot showers. And am addicted to strawberries!!!!
