I'm 23 right now, married at 21, started TTC #1 at 22. If I get pregnant now, I will be 24 when I have the baby. My husband is 30 right now, 31 in August.
I planned to have children earlier, but it took me so darn long to find my husband! We had our first at 33, and we're trying now, I'll be 35 next month. DH is exactly one month older than I am.
We started trying immediately after we got married. When we got pregnant, my mom said "You're what? Why did you do that?" Like I said, we were both 33. We own our own home, have no credit card debt, we were married, I have a master's degree, DH has his bachelor's, we were both gainfully employed, what more did she want? Sometimes, it's hard for parents to see I think.
I was 27 when I had DS, and turned 28 that summer. I really think it depends on your personal situation and comfort level as to when you start TTC. Don't worry about what everyone else thinks, once that little baby is here it always seems to make their hearts melt
I was 23 when I had DS. This time around I am turning 25 on Friday and we will start TTC again in August. My SIL was 19 when she got married and had her first and is an incredible mom.

Age doesn't determine maturity or "readiness" of being a parent. Take the stink eye from who ever you want. if you & YH are ready that is all that matters.
My sisters had their firsts at : 30, 36 & 34. My mother was 31 when she had me, 32 when she had the youngest and 26 when she had the oldest. She married my dad at 21.

I totally agree with the others: when you're ready, you just know. We were in the "we don't want kids" camp for quite awhile, and had a slow, gradual change of heart over the past two years that included a lot of wavering on the topic. But now we know we're ready. GL!

We welcomed the most beautiful baby girl into the world on September 11, 2014!
I am 24 and DH 28 almost 29 and we are TTC # 1. I think there are pros and cons of waiting to have kids and having them early. It just depends on what feels right and what happens in your life.
I'm 28 and hoping to have a baby while I'm still 28... ::crosses fingers:: but this will be my last possible cycle for that since my birthday is in April...
DH is 28 too. Love seeing the age ranges on here, and GL to everyone!

I'm 33 and if I get pregnant this cycle, I'll be 34 when the baby is born. I think age is less important than the "where you are in life" factor. If you're ready, you're ready and it sounds like you have checked the items off your list (married for 3 years, own your own home, career established) that you wanted to take care of before TTC. It's a decision only you and your DH can make for yourselves so if you both feel you're ready, the time is right.
you are so super right! anyways, i'm 25, my husband's 26, and we're TTC #1
S/P L salpingo-oophorectomy w/ septic torsion 1999, dx moderate to severe Crohn's dz 2004. DH S/P hypospadic sx w/ multiple subsequent scar tissue removals, S/P herniorrhaphy. Married on 10/7/2006! TTC since May 2011; abnormal SA #1, better SA #2, normal HSG 7/2012, dx MFI/ low egg count, IUI!
I'm 28 and my husband is 29 (both born in March). If we conceive within 12 months we will be 29 and 30 when we become parents.
I agree that age doesn't have much to do with 'readiness' or how good a parent you will be.
We are settled in or careers and have a house, and are emotionally prepared, so we feel like we tick the big boxes, but in truth I wonder whether anyone is really ready, in the sense that no-one who hasn't has a child knows what it will be like.
It's hard when family aren't 100% behind you (this is my personal case, too) but you have a head on two shoulders and if you know you are ready I know you are right.
