My LO is 3 1/2months old and she has settled herself into a pattern of being awake for about 60-75 mins and then needs to be swaddled and put down for a nap cause she melts down. (flips out screaming) I am not complaining about this because she is in bed around 7:30-8 for the night until a 4 or 5am feeding. Which I think is awesome. My question is about her day schedule ( which I did not impose btw I just watched her cues and noticed that her screaming was being sleepy).
Is this normal for this age? I guess I am wondering if she should be awake for longer than 1 hr at this stage. I sort of feel like a hamster on a wheel cause as soon as we nurse/play I look at the clock and the hour is up. She is not ready to be out of swaddle in case anyone is wondering we have tried 1 arm and she wakes herself constantly.
TIA
Re: 1 hour awake time at 3 1/2 months?
I think it's totally normal. Every baby needs a different amount of sleep, and it sounds like yours just needs a lot! Especially because she was a few weeks early, she needs extra time to sleep to grow and catch up!
You're doing it exactly right...go with the cues your baby gives you and follow your instincts.
