Upstate NY Babies

Selling baby clothes question..

I see there is a garage sale question asked, I have one that is similar. I have a bunch of brand new baby clothes I want to sell. Almost all have tags and the ones that don't were only because I washed them so they could be worn. I plan on having more kids but I am not going to hang on to these clothes in hopes that they fit the next baby.

My question is does anyone know of a place that buys baby clothes in Buffalo or surrounding areas? I live in West Seneca so anywhere that I can drive too that's not outrageous. A friend of mine did this with hers years ago but I am pretty sure that place is gone.

If not I will sell them at my street sale. I am not looking to make a ton of money or anything. I have had garage sales so I know how cheap things go for. I am just getting my nursery ready now and the street sale isn't for a few more weeks. Plus most of these are summer baby boy clothes so it would be best to sell them now. TIA!

Re: Selling baby clothes question..

  • I buy all my baby clothes at the mothertime marketplace:

    mothertimemarketplace.com

Not sure how well people have done on the selling side, but it always seems very crowded.  I usually walk away with a huge bag of clothes for the next season/clothing size.

  • I have heard good things about that mothertime marketplace, but if you don't feel like waiting for that, there are a few kids consignment stores around. I know there is one on southwestern, right near the bend where it turns to transit.. and I think there are a couple in the village of hamburg.. And there is one here in east aurora too, but I've never sold anything through any of them though..

Honestly though, your stuff with tags, did you consider going to the stores and explaining your situation? You'd probably be able to at least get a good chunk of your credit back even with out a receipt. I really think most stores would make an exception in your case.

Thanks ladies! I have never heard of motherhood marketplace but I will check it out.

A friend of mine actually just texted me on lunch talking about the place in East Aurora. She has never sold anything with them before though. It won't hurt to check it out.

I was thinking about that Melissa but I am not sure where everything is from either. They are mostly Carter's clothes but some I bought at Sears and other department stores. It's been over a year since I bought them too.

I could just cut my losses and donate them. I just felt like it is a waste since I have so many.

  • Hmm, honestly, I think I personally would just take them and donate them.  I think financially, you can get a better deal bc of the tax write-off since you use the estimated value and they are mostly new with tags.  And emotionally, I don't think I would want to re-tell my story at each store.
  • I don't plan on going anywhere that I will have to tell my story. I don't feel like being the basket case in each store!! Money wise I am not really worried or thinking I will make some huge profit. Just thought I would check out somewhere that did buy them back and see what the deal was. Thanks again for all the ideas I appreciate them.
