Dropped supply, need help!

In the last month or two, I've noticed a marked drop in my mild supply.  However, I have twins and need to be able to pump much more in order to provide daycare with enough milk to get them through the day.  I've already run out of the extras that I've frozen, and need to up the amount I take to daycare because the twins are now 6 months and taking more at each feeding.  Any suggestions as to what I can do to increase my milk supply?  I'm just barely getting by right now and would ideally like to keep them on bm for the 1st year.  Please help!  TIA!

Re: Dropped supply, need help!

  • Have you cut down on your eatting??  Cutting too many calories while trying to take off pregnancy pounds can decrease your milk supply.  Try eatting 300 more calories a day for a week or two and see if you notice a difference.  Also, a pump does not empty you as well as a nursing baby, and can lead to decreased milk supply.  Be sure to be nursing anytime you don't have to pump.

  • It's okay to cut your self some slack too - Twins plus pumping is tough. Know that even if they aren't getting 100% bm - some bm is still good.
