We started PTing Friday, we aren't really using any methods, persay. DS is wearing underwear, if he has accidents we change his clothes and move on if he goes on the potty we celebrate and he gets some kind of treat.
He's pretty good at holding it, like I can take him places in his underwear and he doesn't have accidents. And at home if he's naked he runs right in and pees on the potty by himself. If he's wearing underwear he will sometimes drip a little then make it to the potty and a few times he's had all out accidents. All poops have been on the potty (which is great!).
All this to say, I defnintely want to stick with it, but I want to have realistic expectations. How long did it take your child to really get the hang of it, to where accidents were pretty rare (once a day or less). Any advice? I can't leave him naked all the time! haha
Re: Let me hear your potty training success stories
Wow - it sounds like he's doing great! I would say we've been working on PT with DS1 since the beginning of the year. We tried just underwear first but that was a disaster so we did pullups. He goes to DC so that was a big help b/c they really work on it in his room. A few months ago, he started wearing underwear all the time (even during naps, but not overnight) and we are down to maybe 1 or 2 accidents per week? He's recently started pooping on the potty almost all the time too, even while we're out. He wakes up dry 98% of the time so we *may* move to underwear at night soon... we'll see! I'd say the whole process has taken us less than 6 months to get where we're at now which if I had to quantify, I'd say he's 90% potty trained.
ETA: I have no advice b/c it sounds like things are progressing well! It sounds like your next step is to have him in underwear at home, rather than naked and see how it goes?
