- Even if everything else is done - the one thing you HAVE to do to consider your kitchen clean?
ME - Sweep the floor. The kitchen could be impeccable, but if I walk in and step on a crumb, I feel like it's the filthiest room in the house.
What about other rooms in your house?
If the pillows are not set up correctly on the couch I feel like my living room looks 100 times messier than it really is.

Re: What is the one thing?
I'm the same about the kitchen floor and pillows.
My bed has to be made for my bedroom to be considered clean.
I hate having dishes in the sink.
Kitchen- nothing is allowed to be in the sink and all counter tops must be wiped down.
Family room-all pillows must be in perfect order. Throw pillows must have the large behind the small, and in front of the big pillow, not off to the side. Also, the stitching must be the edge touching the couch and the other edges are the piping. DH had no clue there was piping on the pillows. And also, the remote must be in its place on the table, not left on the couch.
Annnnd I sound like a crazy person.
For my kitcehn it's the counters. The sinks could be full of dishes, but as long as the counters are shining, i'm good.
And the bathroom has to have the towels folded and hung perfectly and it looks so much better!
Kitchen--no dirty dishes
Living room--toys put away, rug vaccuumed
Bedroom--laundry put away, bed made
Colin's bedroom--books at least stacked instead of strewn on the floor or made into a "road."
Bathroom---ugh. Ideally, everything would be clean.
Kitchen - Counters cleaned off and everything in its place (weirdly I'm not a freak about a few dishes being in the sink though, as long as they don't stay for days)
Kids' bathroom - Bath toys HAVE to be put away in the little hanging turtle holder after every bath. I cannot leave them in the tub, even though nobody else uses that tub but the kids and the occasional overnight guest.
Our bathroom - Bottles straightened on the countertop, all makeup and hair styling tools put away in the drawers, and no toothpaste or shaving cream in the sinks.
Living room - Everything off the floors, blankets and pillows folded neatly on the back of the couch or chair. Side tables somewhat straightened.
And just overall - If there are vacuum lines on the carpets/rugs, and no dog hair on the floors, the entire house feels about a thousand times cleaner even if I do nothing else.
Wipe down the counters with cleaner. I dont care if DH did them after he did the dishes, I have to do them. And the fronts of the cabinets.
For the rest of the house, it has to be vacumed, including the couch. But that's mostly because we have 3 cats...
