DS is almost 15 months old. His hair is wispy at the bottom. DH wants to cut it, but I don't because everyone says their DS doesn't look like a baby anymore after the first cut.
I don't think DS was even one before his first haircut and he has gone every 6 weeks since! It was starting to hang over his ears and just looked silly to me, so it was time. I love a little boy haircut on him! He's going tomorrow! Ok, I just looked...he was almost 10 months old and here's the after shot (still looks like a baby! lol):
It was crazy. He couldn't even really sit up in a Bumbo (which is what they used for the littles). I had to support him. But he was getting baptized in a white dress, so I thought maybe the flowing blonde hair would be a little much.
I was just blessed with hairy kids. . . but with DD I could just let it grow.
James was about 15 months when we cut it for the fist time. We have always just trimmed it and have always kept it long until this last week. We got it cut with clippers for the first time and it is his first "big boy" hair cut (he is 3 1/2) He looks SO much older now. I bet Mac will be about the same age when he gets his first cut as well. He is just now (at 8 months) starting to get noticeable hair.
I refused to do it until after he turned one, for sentimental reasons, but it needed it, so we got it done shortly after his first birthday. It was definitely time. It was much longer on one side than the other in the back and growing over his ears on the sides. We didn't go straight for the super short big boy cut right away, though.
He was like 6-8 months old or so...can't remember. He's always had a head full of thick dark hair that grows fast. Had to get rid of the baby mullet STAT. I cut it myself until he was older and started getting "big boy haircuts". And even now I still cut it myself most of the time.
DS just had his done at 6.5 months. He had a "top mop" that was curly and just out of control. But once we cut it, he really did look different. I hope he gets curls again when it grows in.

Re: How old for DS's first haircut?
3 months. His hair was down to his mid back. He just had haircut #6 today.
But yes, he looks older every time we get it cut.

Wow, Hiker! That's so little!
DS got his first hair cut at about 20 months. He looked so different, but it was so cute.

DS had his a few weeks ago so between 16 and 17 months. Here's the before and after (that were in my sig).
