3rd Trimester

Anyone else with a Posteria Placenta?

I have one, and I'm noticing that I feel alot more movement than my other pregancies.  My doctor also told me that since my placenta is located in that position that I will feel almost every movement that the baby makes...I have been feeling movements since 14 weeks, and now that I'm 30 weeks I can feel elbows, and feet and everything....I can even see movements through my clothes...this little boy is extremley active.....wow!

Re: Anyone else with a Posteria Placenta?

  • Do you mean posterior (rather than posteria)? I actually have an anternior placenta and still felt movement very early and very strong now. A posterior placenta is more common, so most women should have it. The movements should be slightly stronger since the placenta isn't acting as a buffer, but by 30 weeks, I'm not sure it matters that much between the two positions.

  • I had a posterior placenta with my son and an anterior with my daughter. I definitely felt a lot more movement with my son. I have a posterior one again with this baby and I'm still waiting to feel movement.

  • I'm pretty sure a posterior placenta is the norm, so... not unusual or problematic whatsoever.
