Success after IF

Bedsharers with older infants....

DD wakes up earlier than us and then rolls, crawls all over, pulls up on us....sometimes it is like she is trying to get comfortable to go back to sleep but most of the time she is UP and wants to play....we are usually still half asleep and trying to get her to go back to sleep....

how do you keep LO safe in the bed with you once they are mobile ? I know the answer is to get up, but we are so tired it takes us awhile to shake the sleepies off (usually 30 minutes of this)....

  • Yep, you said it. Get up! DD goes to be around 8pm these days and is ready to up for the day earlier than we would like, so we either are all up early or one of us stays in bed and the other gets up.  We just learned it our new realitly.  It's almost best that way anyways because we usually have to be up to make breakfast and get on with the activities of the day.  Going to bed earlier has elped a bit but there are thos days  when I would love to sleep in a bit.  Maybe you guys can take turn getting up with Asha?

  • yeah - we've been taking turns...what sucks is that she takes two oz of formula, plays for an hour and is already ready for a catnap....sigh...

going to be earlier would be great but we are trying to set up a new apartment (going extremely slow with her into everything) so the only time we can get stuff done is when she is asleep (and usually she insists on sleeping WITH one of us)....so we stay up a few hours later than we would like....

  • Maya does this, but usually she just wants to nurse when she does it. Most of the time she will lay down and go back to sleep after nursing, but this morning, WAY out of character for her, she was awake at 6:30am, but DH is an early riser so he just got up with her and let me sleep :

We don't need to do much to keep her safe, as she prefers to be close to us rather than exploring off the edge of the bed. My boobs are like tractor beams.

  • Just have to get up, otherwise she is getting down in any way possible.  We do have bedrails on our bed still (she no longer sleeps with us) because she'll snuggle and drink a cup of milk in the AM, but then she is done and there is no containing her.  She's been like this since about a year old.  We generally take turns getting up.
