DS's DCP texted me on Wednesday evening that her DD (1.5) had a really high fever and was screaming. She didn't know what was wrong, but they ended up having to take her to the hospital because her fever was over 105. The doctors ran a few tests, everything came back normal, so they said it was probably viral and sent them home.
They go to their pedi's office this morning because her fever is still 104.7, and the pedi runs a few tests and then tells them that she's sick because of the bite she'd gotten earlier in the week. My DS was the one who bit her, so I feel horrible! DS has only bitten twice, never at home, but we talked that night and have continued to talk about being nice to our friends and not biting or hitting. Obviously I felt bad the day it happened, but I feel absolutely horrible knowing what this poor little girl has been through the past couple of days with being sick and all the tests.
Surprisingly (at least to me) her pedi said that this is quite common from human bites because the mouth has so much bacteria in it. When she told me her DD was sick on Wednesday, I would've never guessed it had anything to do with the bite.
I'm so glad DCP isn't mad at DH and I over this. Even though we couldn't have done anything to prevent it, I know a lot of parents who would be. DH and I told her that we would pay any medical bills associated with this, but she said not to worry about it because they didn't have to pay anything out of pocket.
