clip-on highchairs

I need advice.  Is it worth spending money on one of those chairs that hooks to the table?  We'd be using it for eating out at restaurants.  The reviews I'm reading on different kinds are OK, but they are saying they can't really use them that much.  Mostly because if the baby is strong (as DD is), the table just shakes too much.  Thoughts?

I'm looking mostly at the Phil and Ted's Lobster.

Oh, DD is 9 months and about 20lbs.

Re: clip-on highchairs

  • We have the FP deluxe booster seat for traveling and restaurants.  We've used it a ton and it works great.  I looked at some of the clip on ones at first but I was really worried about compatibility, just like you.  I'm so glad I decided to go with a booster style instead.

It works on chairs or you can put it in the booth with you.  It has 3 different height settings and I really like that DS has his own tray for food.  It also folds up well and one of the straps doubles as a shoulder strap for carrying.  DS seems very comfortable in it too which was another concern I had about the clip on styles.

ETA: I forgot to say that it's very easy to clean too.

We have the Inglesina Trip.  DS is 25 pounds and we have had no issues with shaking or tables being unstable.

That one is better than the FP Booster Seat we just got.  I'm sad that I didn't see that one first!  =(

  • We have the Phil&Teds MeToo. I have used it quite a bit when we go for dinner with relatives/friends, etc. The only downside is that sometimes people have tables that I can't clip it onto because they have that vertical wood piece under the tabletop and it is too close to the edge to make it possible to clip. It sucks when that happens because then you are stuck without a high chair but it has only happened to us twice in almost 2 years.
