spitting?

One of my boys has started spitting (and monkey see, monkey do... the other usually starts but mostly half heartedly lol...)  like a spitty drool... and I have told him its yucky, rude, people don't like to see spit... etc, he usually does it in the car and I am not sure what other methods I should try or if I should continue to tell him its yucky etc and eventually he will grow out of it because its a phase?

thoughts? most suggestions will be tried...

Re: spitting?

  • I would put them in time out.  Actually I do.  Joey was spitting today, I gave him 1 warning, and then he went to time out.  Didn't do it again today.  I don't know what to say about the car... I guess I'd try to ignore that.  I figure it's a phase.

  • What we do is tell her if she wants to spit, she may go spit in the toilet, but she may not spit on me, people, etc.

Same thing that we did during my student teaching.  It lasted a day or so and she didn't like having to go to the bathroom to spit in the toilet.
