At C's 4 month visit last week dr.was a concerned with his head growth; circumference was 16.75". His head is actually the same size as his 20 month old sister. He had a normal head at birth and now it seems to have had a serious spurt. So we are scheduled to have an u/s to evaluate his ventricle size. Not to mention that he has a mis-shapened head (more than you standard flat spot in the back) so he may need to see the specialist about one of the helmets. Our Dr. said we will re-eval head shape at 6 months, but to get the u/s done now. She told us not to loose sleep over it, but it's hard not to be concerned.
What was your LO's head circumference at 4 month?
Re: 4 Month head circumference
42cm/16.5 inches
My pedi didn't seem at all concerned. If I remember correctly, she's in the 85th % for head circumference. Have you asked your mom/MIL what your heads were? I was a c/s because I had a big head. I just grabber her little log book that the pedi writes in and her 2 month measurement was 36.5cm/14.4in.
cm/in calculator if anyone else needs it
https://www.manuelsweb.com/in_cm.htmI looked up DD's from her 4 month visit and her head was 16" I didn't seem all that alarming to me once I saw her number too.
And apparently my brother had a big head as a baby.
17 inches here, I wasn't told a percentile but when I looked it up online I found she is in the 95th percentile. She has a big head
Pedi wasn't concerned in the least...
I will ETA that DD is an overall big baby. 26 inches and 15lbs 4 oz. Pedi said she is the length of the average 7mo old and weight of a 6mo old. I'm guessing her head is comparable in that way too, but she didn't say.
