Suggest some questions to ask the allergist

(Sorry if this is a little bit of a repeat from my previous post.)

I am taking my kids to their first appointment with an allergist on Monday, where they are getting their first skin test.  The Dr said that we will find out results of the test at our second visit.  At this point (since we have never had any tests done), all of their allergies are "suspected" and we don't have any concrete answers.  I'm just wondering if there are a few things that I should be looking for, or remembering to ask, or discussing with the allergist at this first appointment?  This is all new to me and I feel like there are so many things to learn!  I just want to make sure I don't get home and think, "Man... I should have asked that while I was there..."  TIA!

    if your children do have food allergies and you require an epipen, have the allergist explain to you the symptoms and at what point to administer the epipen and at what point benadryl will be just fine. 

    Ask about benadryl dosage for your kids.  My son went through one whole bottle of benadryl by 11 months. ;(

    I asked about traveling with my son and things/places i should avoid. how to avoid them.

    As far as the test itself write down all of the things that the allergist is testing and then find out the exact class that you LOs tested postive for. 

    Be prepared to explain in detail all of their symptoms and whwat they and what food they were related to.  My son just went to the allergist yesterday and I forgot just how detailed they want you to be to describe the reaction and what exactly they were eating when it happeend.  If I can think of more things I will add it.  GL!!

    If you can have another adult (your DH, a friend, grandma- someone) come with you that would be very helpful.  Espeically with 2 kiddos- you'll want someone to help with the kids so you can focus on what the dr. is telling you and have another set of ears to hear the info.  I always forget something or miss a part of information when I go alone and have to call back after.  It always helps me to have DH come with.  That way he also thinks of follow up questions that I might not have thought of and we can discuss everything after much easier since we were both there.
